Just for information, I checked out the first 3 hands of the 9 in question using Winpoker. Here are the results:
(The I claim part is what Bob Dancer says is the right play)
Jh Th 7c 5d 3s (I claim it says to hold the J only, with an error of 21¢)
JT -- 2.5569
J -- 2.3621
diff = 0.1948
Qd Td 7c 5s 3h (I claim it says to hold the Q only, with an error of 14¢)
QT -- 2.4854
Q -- 2.3459
diff = 0.1395
Kd Td 7c 5s 3h (I claim it says to hold the K only, with an error of 7¢)
KT -- 2.3941
K -- 2.3244
diff = 0.0697
I am not sure why Bob has 21 cents for the first hand and I only show 19.5 cents. I entered it 3 times in Winpoker.
I have not read Linda Boyd's book so I'm not sure what her strategy cards show. I do see ( from Winpoker ) what is the correct play for each of these hands. I also don't know if Linda's cards show an accuracy number.
The challenge in putting a dollar amount on the different plays is in first putting the hands into categories and then in calculating the frequency of occurrence. I'd guess that the information needed is in VPSM, Winpoker , FVP and VPW but I don't think it is available to the end user.
We all make trade offs on simplicity of strategy vs complexity. If Bob is correct in his estimate of Linda's strategy cards, that is an issue that needs to be addressed. If the difference from perfect play is on the order of hundreths of a percent instead of tenths of a percent, the issue is less important.
