Strange VP experiences

This didn't happen to me but it did to a friend earlier this year. After dinner at our place, we gave him a ride back to the MGM because he wanted to take a shot at the Majestic Lions or whatever that progressive is called that's in excess of $1M that they will surely take out as soon as someone takes it down.

Anyway, he had no success on this but did hit a jackpot of $5K on slots in high limit.

He played VP with us before and knew enough to be dangerous so he threw $400 in a $1/$2 50 play machine multi game machine. He was playing DDB in dollars. We no sooner arrived at home than the phone call came that he hit a $24K jackpot! We were all estatic.

In an onimous comment before turning in, Barb said "I hope he didn't have a kicker". We fell asleep and met our friend the next day to go to lunch.

After he got in the car, we congratulated him but he just growled (literally). We asked him what happened. He said that after he called us and let us know of his good fortune, the slot attendants came over to view the hand. They said "how many kickers did you get?". He had no idea what they were talking about. They showed him that the 4 3's that he got when were accompanied by a 2, 4, or A would pay $800/hand instead of $400. He then realized what I'm sure most of you concluded....he had 4 x 3's with a kicker dealt....a $40K hand! He threw away the kicker and got 10 of them on the re-deal.....a $24K hand instead of a dealt, slam dunk $40K.

I couldn't eat lunch that day.....a once in a lifetime experience and he flushed $16K in the blink of an eye!

Making things even worse....we gave him VPFW the previous Christmas but he never installed it successfully.....ignorance isn't always bliss!
