stolen voucher

I find this one a bit hard to believe...anyone that was trying to "snatch" a voucher from a vacated machine would quickly get back to their machine, plus, them machines take a bit of time to print out the ticket, so even if the scam did distract a player for a few seconds, there would still not be enough time to sneak up to thier machine, hit the cash out, and then wait for the voucher.

It does sound like something to watch for, but sure hard to pull off.

Another scam is that someone sits at a machine in a row and plays say 1 cent
- then cashes out the voucher but leaves it sticking in machine and walks
away. Someone playing a few seats away notices the voucher sticking out and
gets up and gets it. Meanwhile someone else comes by and cashes out the greedy
player's machine.

Don't bet on it. I saw a ticket cashed out on a lady while she was
talking to lady in next stool to her. A tap on her shoulder and a
point to the guy pulling ticket from her machine and she screamed at
crook and he threw ticket and ran. The lady was sitting at her
machine while guy cashed it.

I put a hundred in machine on end of row. The hundred was rejected. I
was talking and looked back just as hundred fell to floor. Guy
walking by, put his foot on 100 and was sliding bill along with him.
He actually didn't lift his foot and slid the bill away. I yelled at
him and he said something like, "Oh I didn't see that", and lifted
foot and kept going.

Gee, a purse is easy to snatch right from person holding it.

The mind set here is; Casinos have a high number of people with cash.
Many of the people in casinos have the full time job of stealing
things from others.

Not everyone would/can get back to his/her machine quickly -- the
very old people especially (unfortunately)!
And when the snatcher happens to be a Professional or a Pro team,
you're way out of luck!

Some newer machines display "Thank you for playing <your name>..."
after you pull your slot card out of the machine. For some people who
forget to Cash Out their money/credits from the machines, it would be
nice for the machine makers to not use the Display but also use the
speakers to say something like: (when you have Credits left)

"Thank you for playing <your name>. Don't forget to Cash Out your
remaining Credits. Come back soon!"

Sometimes it does make a loud sound to alert you! Of course, that is a potential ruse of crooks. Put a small amount of money in a machine, hit the cash-out button and walk away quickly. An innocent player nearby hears the continuous loud sound, goes over to check it out, leaving his own machine briefly unattended. Same crook or a partner sweeps in and cashes out their big amount!!!!!

To make stealing a voucher from a TITO machine extremely difficult
when you wish to turn your attention elsewhere for a few minutes is
to hit the Deal button first. Until that hand is completed, your
machine will refuse to cash out. Anyone attempting to make off
quickly with your voucher will be foiled by this ploy.

As someone else has remarked, outstanding advice. I'll note one
factor that makes this particularly effective.

Most machines, when waiting for the next play, flash the Deal/Draw
button light so long as there are credits on the machine. This acts
as a beacon to someone scanning machine banks for a temporarily
abandoned machine, even from yards away. Deal a hand and leave it on
the machine and the button stops flashing.

When you see someone weaving in and out of the machine banks who
clearly doesn't look like a player, they're scouting for flashing
buttons. It's why stepping away from your machine for even a matter
of seconds can be hazardous. Maybe IGT could get a clue?

-In addition to leaving machine in middle of game, I leave game with
a junk hand. One wouldn't want to leave machine with even a 2roy just
in case, when returning attention to game, a mistake is made. Of
course it's best to never leave game without cashing ticket.
