Hi Gang:
We don't have any logical explanation for it, but Hedy and I have been on a
big-time roll since our trip to New Orleans two weeks ago. We followed up
a very lucrative trip to NOLA with another major score during the Seven
Stars Signature Weekend at Harrah's last week then this past Thursday and
Friday it was more of the same as the VP Gods once again shone their benevolent
light upon us.
Sticking to the new bank of 9/6 DDB machines at Harrah's AC, we began
playing at the dollar level on Thursday and had mixed success in the early going
with a $250 quad here and there. Hedy then hit aces for $800 and decided
to take a shot at the $2 level. After getting quad fives and quad sevens for
$500 each, she was dealt three aces and we held our breath as she hit the
draw button. Amazingly, the final ace and a beautiful, little deuce popped
onto her screen and bells started to ring ... a $4,000 handpay!! I was
holding my own as well with aces for $800, fours with a kicker for $800 and two
$500 quads (I switched, too) and when our session finished we had close to
a 5G profit.
Friday we started slowly but kept circling the bank looking for that "hot
machine." Yeah, yeah, we know there's no such thing, but we finally latched
onto one machine that just kept hitting quads and produced one straight
flush. We took turns playing it and hit a number of bonus quads, including
aces again for $800, ducks for $800 ($2 level) and 4's with a kicker for $800.
The day's profit was $1,200, giving us another very productive trip
primarily playing a game that can be super volatile. Fortunately, things have
been going our way for two weeks and we are getting dangerously close to being
in the black (with cashback) for a second straight year. We also are
within a few thousand base credits of getting Hedy to the Seven Stars level and
should finish that off next weekend.
We're off on a 13-night cruise to Europe Oct. 21, non-casino related, the
only betting we'll be doing on this trip will be if Hedy can get me up on a
camel in Egypt, and will be out of commission the entire month of December
because of my hip replacement surgery (Dec.1), so our trips to AC for 2009
are dwindling down to a precious few.
If the current trend continues, however, a few will be more than enough.
This game can be so exhilarating when things are going your way ... and so
depressing when they're not. Right now, we're enjoying the ride!!
Regards,
CoachVee & Hedy
