Steve Wynn is my be-ach!

Just returned from a quick trip to LV (4-July thru 8-July). Played
about 30 hours of quarter 10/7 DB. Hit a royal 4 hours into the trip
at Wynn. Took another $250 out of there the next day. Drink service
was superlative since I was right next to one of the CW's hidey
holes. Very pleasant casino but can they do something about the
background music? Sheesh, I knew every song by heart on day 1, and do
we really need a Muzak version of 'Light my fire'? Anyway, got a free
buffy and $32 in CB from Steve too. Favorite fantasy, Steve -- Howard
Hughs like -- watching a video monitor of me taking his dough and
wishing my ill. Of course he doesn't even know I'm alive. So what, I
won a few bucks.

Also saw some woman take a dive at the Wynn. She hit the marble floor
near Red 8 and howled a lot. It looked like a Men's Warehouse
commercial so many suits showed up. They were shooting Polaroids and
the paramedics whisked her away faster than you could say liability
suit. Most interesting element to me was random staff comments about
how her verbal statements wouldn't bloster her legal case. They must
get sued a lot.

Saw George Wallace; a really big yawn. Howie Mandel; this guy is
funny. Also saw Zumanity. The show was more funny than erotic.
Quality infuses this production. Well worth the $70.

Stayed at the TI for the last time. Only stayed there since I had a
cheap offer. I came face to face with their target demographic in the
elevator. Two drunken, shirtless, twenty somethings smoking and
acting belligerent. Wouldn't really have cared personally but they
were intimidating a pair of middle aged women. I wouldn't mind an
offer from Wynn but I doubt I'll see anything from them. As always
had fun and broke a pretty long royal drought.

At Wynn did you get your free buffet by doing the new card sign up
promo? If so, how many points were required? Was it a weekend or
midweek?

Thanks
Don

LOL. I actually like that version of LMF that plays at Wynn.
By the way, any wins on the Bonus Bingo? Almost a year now and I
haven't hit that thing once.

Yes, just what the world needs, the 10,001 Strings playing LMF.

Try playing BB on graveyard. There is a trick to it, but I've been
sworn to omerta on the trick, and I'm not expecting any mail from them
anytime soon as it is.

I never considered getting an iPOD until having to listen to that same ol'
stuff over and over and over again. Not only do I hate the music they play
but you'd think Wynn could afford something more than a 30 song play list.

I got to the machines while the woman was on the ground. Her incessant
moaning was quite distracting!

It is annoying when people writhe about in agony around one, isn't it?

Sort of like one of those inconvenient terrorist attacks where one is rained upon by all
those wet severed limbs that stain one's designer duds so nastily.

I'm with you here, Charles. The first time I heard the music, I
liked it so much that I went and tried to get a copy of the CD or
DVD at the gift shop near the Guest Elevators. They told me "Sorry,
we don't have that one. The music they play here is from the
Satelite Radio.", perhaps someone recorded them. And yes, the next
time you check-in, the same set of songs (samba, bossa nova, and
more lounge music) keeps playing over and over and over ("Sway" by
Michael Buble, "It's Impossible"). However, my ear drums were still
much safer with them than those very loud music/noise at the Hard
Rock Casino.

I've hit the Bonus Bingo a few times already and I think
percentagewise, the chance of hitting it is better around early
morning hours when there is much fewer people playing.

Er, I think his comment meant that he felt her pain was less than
genuine.

Anyway, I also vote no on the music there. They also play one song
continuously (I'm not good on song titles) that sounds just like the
Harrah's music they always play for their in-hotel TV ads.

Additional "no" votes:
        a) the volume of Bonus Bingo (maybe it should just say you
won something, or someone won something and it wasn't you--maybe if
they changed the sound effects game to game....)
        b) the immovable chairs
        c) the fact they do not consider $5 to be high enough for
high limit (or $10 for that matter), thus leaving such a player in
the noise/traffic zone

Everything else gets a medium to high "yes" vote.

No wins at B Bingo, it's funny how quickly you stop
watching the card once it's played 10 or 12 times. But
hey the price is right.

It was mid-week and required 250 points for
2 free buffets at the meal of your choice.
Since I was alone I just gave my second to
an older lady behind me in line. It took
a little manipulation of the checks by the
cashier. They were pretty clear they
were not going to let me use them seperately.
Use them both at the same time or lose one.

Seriously, the version of LMF that plays at Wynn reminds me a lot of
the version Jose Feliciano did in the late 1960's, which was actually
a bigger hit than the original by the Doors. (at least according to
original member Ray Manzarek).

For what it's worth, and it's probably worth less than the value
of memorizing all the penalty card situations in 9/6 Jacks or Better,
the original by the Doors stayed at #1 on the Billboard charts for
three weeks. Jose Feliciano's version made it only to #3.

Here's what the author of the song ( robbie krieger - doors guitarist ) had to say about the song, Light my fire ,in an interview:

"It's really a great feeling to have written a classic. I think I owe a big debt to Jose Feliciano because he is actually the one, when he did it, everybody started doing it. He did a whole different arrangement on it. It was a much more accessible arrangement as far as different types of musicians doing it. Nobody had covered it up until that time. Once he did it, everybody started doing it. Even though I really didn't like his version at first, like I say it was a lot more accessible. The very fact that that song was the key element in the career of both The Doors and Jose Feliciano, in two total different arrangements of the song shows how strong that song is. "
