"Status" recognized by competitors?

Question to the group:

In the past using airlines as my example, I was able to send American Airlines confirmation that I was a Platinum Elite + level flyer with Northwest and I requested "status" consideration with American for one year to incentivize me to fly American for my 100,000+ miles of domestic travel each year.

It worked and I was given "status" mid-level with American for one year and then earned enough for future years. It wasn't the highest level, but it was higher status than I would otherwise have had.I forget the name of their middle elite tier since its been awhile.

Are there any casinos in Las Vegas that would offer something special if I tried the same thing by proving my Venetian Gold status or Harrah's Diamond, or ridiculous "Elite" status at home Indian Casino?

I was thinking of sending a letter to a couple of properties I haven't played at before to see if it would get me anything? Thought it might be worth a shot.

Other traditional approach is stay somewhere else where I AM comped for the nights and go to these other places and play so they can evaluate my level of action. But that takes longer and I am trying for mileage on past accomplishments ---- or is that totally crazy?

Has anyone ever tried the first approach lately?

Thanks,
Diane

I've never tried it in Vegas, but it worked in AC at the Borgata when they opened up. They gave me "Black" (higher level) for I think a year based on Harrah's Diamond status. I always save my old diamond cards, so I was able to show 3 or 4 years of diamond. I think that I saw an ad for the new MGM/Foxwoods that was offering the same kind of deal, but I must confess, it might have been for some other casino.

I would go in person, or at least by phone to an Executive Host, rather than a letter. They might not want the policy in writing to be shared.
