Static versus Dynamic Friction...and a bit of Lubercation

Laughlin vpFREE members,

I am glad to be back on the board and enjoyed the warm greeting by some of the active members. This board has never been that vibrant compared to the main vpFREE forum. Historically, I got the third message posted on this site, which means nothing, except I have a vested interest in its health.

I am tired of talking to myself. I have tried to only post at most once a day without replies.

So I see "vpdeuces" just posted on the main board. He was showing his wit and humor, I hope, concerning "spitting dimes". Well the last time I fed dimes into any machine was at the Riverside against that main walkway wall coming in the non-smoking south entrance, appeasing some random slot machine. At last look a couple years ago, Don will still count up your pennies and dimes so you can play his quarters.

So "vpdeuces" is not able to come visit this site anymore? He has to be in the top twenty posters on this site in activity and most certainly in ranking in quality of postings. Where is your current Laughlin expertise "vpdeuces"? We all need it.

Newbies to the site please jump in. A dozen posts a month only in activity can be intimidating. There are knowing low rollers, like me who just want a comped room as a bottom line basis point, to some veteran posters who get the works at various casinos up and down the river.

I suppose even I've been wondering what would shake me out of hibernation, and of course it's my good friend Bluestreak. Let me add my welcome back to those you've already received, and thank you for your very informative postings of late. I know it seems you've been talking into a void, but I've read and criticized each one--aloud, if not here with the group.

Couldn't resist the question about machines spitting dimes over on that heavily trafficked board.

My Laughlin expertise is dormant. In the past year, I've moved from the dry southwest to the east coast, so my attentions are now on Atlantic City. I'm getting tired of playing JoB and BP, and I'm nowhere near the Diamond level with Big H anymore. It is unfortunate, because the diamond lounges at the shore make the little tv room at Harrah's-Lau or the goopy dip offerings at Caesars-LV look pathetic. I might make Platinum this year. Or not.

As a "local," I do get a few playable promos now and then, along with a welfare check or two. AC is not my favorite venue. I still like LV for ambiance, playing conditions, and sheer number of distractions per trip. I don't particularly like that 5+ hour plane trip to get there, but that's the sacrifice I'll make. I also don't like that I'm in the midst of a losing streak that I can't seem to shake.

Meanwhile, Laughlin is not on my immediate radar. The mail is beginning to catch up with me, and there are a few good offers, but nothing too enticing yet. It doesn't help that I'm no longer within driving distance. I do, however, appreciate all the postings on vpFREE Laughlin, so keep up the good work. I encourage everyone else to chime in now and then. We need to know things, like will Trop Ex bring back "Two Gals and a Geezer" or how many Sigma machines are still functioning at the GN? Maybe Harrah's will decide I should get a free plane ride from here to Bullhead City. Until then, I remain a lurker.

It's been a couple of years since my wife and I have ventured to Laughlin. We
have decided to make our return trip at the end of October. Can anyone provide
information on the following:
(1) Does the Golden Nugget still have the DDB progressive in dollars?
(2) Does the Pionner still have double jackpot time for VP players?
(3) Does the Edgewater still have the $.25 DDB sequential progressive?
(4) Finally, does the Tropicana Express still have the quad sevens promotion?

Thank you and I will start posting what information get on Laughlin so this
board remains active.
Additionally, thanks in advance to those who can provide answers to my
questions.

So vpdeuces do you at least have a Phillies baseball futures ticket that would get you back to Nevada? That is your team right? Going back into first place yesterday for the first time since mid-May must have perked you up.

I piggy-backed a few bucks onto Hamstockman's baseball futures bets this time around. He has a knowledgeable source who picks out some teams for him. I go shopping for lines around Laughlin. Out of seven teams we still have the Rangers and Twins in the A.L. and the Reds, Giants and Rockies in the N.L., all to win a pennant.

It gives Hamstockman an excuse to make the long drive to cash a ticket. But I might have just jinxed the whole deal.

Can anyone provide

information on the following:

(1) Does the Golden Nugget still have the DDB progressive in dollars?

...I think that one has vanished.

(2) Does the Pioneer still have double jackpot time for VP players?

...they stopped doing the double time promotion, then brought it back. I think the only VP hooked-up are some crummy uprights in the "back forty" area.

(3) Does the Edgewater still have the $.25 DDB sequential progressive?

...over by McDonalds in slant-tops?

(4) Finally, does the Tropicana Express still have the quad sevens promotion?

...they did but Bonus 8/5 was only offered in $1-2 in the high limit area. Quarter Bonus 7/5 had the promo too.

But things can change quickly. Pioneer has a new slot manager.

Unfortunately, I have no futures bets. My extreme superstition leads me to believe that if I bet them, they will lose. (I can also be convinced they pump oxygen into the casinos, and that the lady in the booth controls whether my vp machine gets any quads or not.) I was actually at the game last night and was doing fine until the 8th when I began to think our bench would blow it, but we held on. Gotta win those, especially when the Braves were beating up on the Bucs.

What are the crowds like at EW/CB? On my last Laughlin trip, EW was overrun with families and tons of kids, moreso than usual. At least it seemed that way to me. And is Aquarius still pumping the loud music into the casino? I never thought I'd ask that, but I've officially become my father.

Welcome back to the digital wasteland, BS. I haven't been back to the river since July of '08, a Harrah's junket out of Midway. Hot as hell, but I like the relaxed pace and unpretentious vibe of the place. Nancy and I sat on Harrah's beach on the night of the 4th and watched Nevada rain spent missiles onto the Arizona desert... with what I would have thought would be an obvious result. The big fire was every bit as interesting as the fireworks display that preceded it. Don't have much to add to the Laughlin forum these days or even much to add to general vp discussions. I haven't been playing much or thinking seriously about the game lately.

Yes the DDB 9/5 $1 6-way progressive is still there in mid-casino. On Saturday the royal was $6,200+ and there were not any seats available.

(3) Does the Edgewater still have the $.25 DDB sequential

progressive?

Yes they were there by McDonalds at $31,000+.

Bluestreak,
My wife and I have be going to Laughlin from Boston for 15 years. The destruction of fair games has taken it off of our list of gambling mecca's. I suspect we will still do the ride from Vegas and do moderate gambling to keep our accounts active. Won't be close to our standard $30K+ action/day combined. There's not enough joints. If there were another half dozen casinos things could be different (critical mass?).

But when we do visit the main attraction won't be gambling. It will be Xmas Tree Pass and Grapevine Canyon and Thumb Mountain and Lake Mohave and Oatman and Route 66. Now if RP only put back in those FPDB MS machines...

Sometimes, I see the prices of houses and dream about a winter home in that neck of the woods. Could the house market go even lower?

Welcome Susan. Everyone...this is Susan, maybe an Angel from Arizona?

I cannot believe RP is sold out for this weekend. There was no one there last weekend. So you can be our eyes and ears over there.

So are you comped for the week, moving to various casinos? What games do you like to play? Anything we can try to answer before the plane, train or automobile leaves?
