State Tax Filings

Thanks for the info Jean,

From what i understand, in addition to being difficult to qualify for, filing as a professional gambler also raises a red flag in terms of an IRS audit.

While it will be a few more years before we can move (at least part of the year) to a nicer state, I'm looking for a creative way to file that will not increase my chances of an IRS audit. Private e-mails are fine.

thanks
Joel

<<there any publication that deals with filing state taxes in states that do
not allow you to deduct your losses from your W-2G winning?>>

I discuss this problem at length in "Tax Help for Gamblers." IF you can
qualify as a professional gambler (difficult but not impossible), that would
solve your problem. Otherwise, there is not anything you can do, short of
moving to a "nicer" state!!!!
