Stardust seems to be pretty much the way it used to be. Best games are fifty
cent 9/6 JB located near Keno area on a progressive meter, $1 9/6 JB single
and triple play on nearby bar (I think it is the baccaret bar). Lots of reel
slots, but not much VP.
The place is looking seedier and desperately needs ticket in/out. Rumor has
it that it may be redone or possibly even imploded and rebuilt?? I don't
know why with all that space in the back they haven't built another tower and
perhaps added some sort of attraction inside or on outside to pull people in.
Perhaps a dancing fountain in front for example, with colored lights - it
wouldn't take that much room. Perhaps build something like Sam's Town park
with another tower of rooms in the back.
But no - they don't seem to be putting any of the money that Boyd raised with
issuing stock a few years ago into the casino.
Stardust is definitely losing its core of long-time players as well, since
its offers are no longer as good as they were. Despite $5 reel play there
I'm not getting the old 3-4 night monthly offers I used to, and offers to
their tournaments are okay, but they give few prizes. Occasionally I've
gotten offers for $300 cash, which helped, but they just don't seem to be
giving out the strong room offers they used to.
The place seems pretty empty except when they do have an offer or tournament.
They are offering some good package deals to pull people in, but it is
surprising they don't do more with marketing to longtime players to try to
bring them in.
Coffee shop remains very good, as is the Sushi King. If you play, ask hosts
for red or gold card for free meals - they won't offer unless you ask, but if
you ask it isn't that hard to get. Gold even works in Sushi King, William
B's etc. (though this may be changing - make sure you are covered before
charging Sushi King). Buffet is not as good as it used to be. The Mexican
restaurant is now kaput. William B's and Tony Romas are pretty much the
same.
