Mr. Whitejeeps, you are certainly correct about Mr. Wong. I'm a
big fan of his. I have that book in my collection, plus Casino
Tournament Strategy and Sharp Sports Betting. I'm not a big fan of
8/5 progressives though. Perhaps, if I would have been around a little
earlier I would have been. By the time I started playing video poker
(mid-nineties) the 8/5 meters around Nevada had been severely cut back
probably due to team play. So, plays did'nt develop that often.
However, I was able to make a nice score one time using Stanford's keno
probability tables in the back of Casino Tournamnet Strategy. I came
across a promotion at John Ascuagua's Nugget in Sparks, Nevada a few
years back in which they payed double for solid hits on 5-spots or
higher at video keno. I found a game called Top Hat Keno in which most
of the payback was in the solid hit. It wasn't long before they
cancelled the 5-spot, so I moved up to the 6-spot. Of course, other
people had the same idea as me. I walked in one morning and there
wasn't a Top Hat Keno to be found on a machine anywhere in the casino.
The funny thing is, I'm not a big fan of casino tournaments either. I
just bought the book to add to my collection. It well payed for
itself. Good luck.
Stanford Wong
That keno story is really interesting. During those early and mid 90s
I based out of the "old" Frontier. I specifically liked the Frontier
because I could keep a close eye on the 6 coin JOB prog. Also I
played 8/5 progressive quarter and another game that had a high 4
kind progressive on it. I think it was a good play when 4kd prog was
over a $100. Sometime got 3 or 4 plays a day on that mini prog. Also,
best of all early 90s was $1 full pay dueces at Frontier. Later only
50 cent and quarter were left. Then none. Now I guess quarters are
back. I developed my strategy from Wong and Frome. I did pretty good
as part time player. Frontier was great, back then, because one can
get the best comps they offer for about 2-3 hours of $1 play. I was
free to hop all over town and not worry about comps. Alas,I don't
stay there anymore.
Cheers... Jeep
