I'm going to st. maarten - the Dutch side -- and I hear there's gambling. Has anyone gambled at any of the casinos there or should I just work on my tan?
thanks in advance.

Atlantis Casino is the best casino on the island. Don't expect good vp, but slots are reasonable. Slot club gives cash back and has random jackpots. My wife was playing a machine the second day of our visit to the island and her machine was selected for the random jackpot $1438!

There are several small and outdated casinos on the Dutch side of St. Martin. I do not recall the exact pay schedules but, only that they are not very >good. St. Martin is a beautiful island with lots of outdoor things to do and some great restaurants (mostly on the French side).

As of a few years ago (at least 3) they had full pay deuces wild in .25 at a small casino real close to the airport. I'm sorry I can't remember the name of it. It was right next door to the timeshare we stayed at. It is kind of a dump but the full pay machines were at the bar and drinks were free (if you could get the bartenders attention!). It's near Simpson Bay.

I spent a week in St. Maarten at MAHO, playing in a poker tourament. AT that time they still had some full pay quarter deuces, but it was several years ago.

Thanks everyone who responded to my inquiry - I'm actually looking more forward to the trip now!! (It was between 4 days in Vegas on my own, or going to St. Maarten for a week with a friend who has a timeshare.)
As far as the full pay deuces go, I'll definitely be on the lookout for them! My favorite game. Will let you know if they're still there.
