its the top or bottom you "only" get 2 royals. That increases the volatility
but I think that's a plus.

his bankroll, without seeking some additional economic return to
compensate for the risk ... sigh.

  My reaction as well. At least this situation carries no
negative impact on EV. It amazes me that so many people on this
list, even people some who play full time, have this kind
of mindset.

  I know a full time player who will always play AsQs from
AsQs7s4d3c on Joker's Wild. He does this when the RF pays 4000
or when it pays 4700. He absolutely knows that he should hold
the lone Ace when the RF only pays 4000 (because of the suit
penalty to the AsQs), but he still plays the 2-card royal.
He rationalizes some nonsense about not wanting to 'miss' a
Royal and that the cost of deviating from the correct play is
low. What he fails to realize is that even if he hits that RF,
he will still eventually be worse off. What is worse is if
he is unlucky and never gets one this way. Now that play will
cost a lot over time.
