Details are not available yet, at least I don't have them, and I don't
know when we'll find out the total story, but I can tell you what I
found out and reported on Thursday.

There was a problem with the software that could allow the game to be
compromised somehow. A casino source told me on Thursday that in NV,
Gaming designated the eproms as "obsolete". He specifically indicated
that players could get extra credits. I assume that meant players who
know how to exploit the problem.

IGT told me that there was an "anomaly" in the program and that the
software was being replaced quickly. Obviously this was happening all
over the country. They wanted to have all the machines up for the
holiday weekend. It appears they accomplished that.

A friend of mine spoke at length with a tech at the Hard Rock, the first
place the machines were taken down. The tech told him that it had been discovered
that hitting the buttons in a certain sequence, or hitting certain buttons
simultaneously (he wasn't sure which) would enable you to play the next hand
without credits being deducted.

Ironically, this most likely had been discovered by someone hitting the
machine out of frustration--then realizing that no credits had been used to play
the next hand. For a greedy person not averse to stealing from the casino, this
could have been extremely lucrative. SpinPoker is available in denominations
up to $5.
