Spin feature

That'll happen on SpinPoker. I played the game ONE time, at Palace Station
shortly after it came out. Quarters, fully loaded. Right near the end of my
second Benji, I saw a Royal on the screen - and got nothing. It was the last
time I played the game.

My wife was recently playing Super Aces spin poker and had an ace dealt
on the 1st and 3rd position. On the draw, she received an ace in the
2nd and 4th position for quad aces on 3 lines. When she described it to
me over the phone, I thought she received the dealt aces on the 1st and
2nd position and filled them in on the 3rd and 4th position. That would
result in only 1 quad aces.

It's interesting that not only the final position but which positions
are dealt and which are drawn affects the payout.

We play Spin Poker every chance we get when it is a positive play. Now that's only at Wynn most of the time. Yes, it is frustrating to see all the royal cards come up but not be on one payline. But the thrill of getting multiple royals more frequently than on regular multi-line games makes up for this.

I discuss SpinPoker and many specialty games in depth in my new VP book coming out later in the summer. I have several chapters on "Odd-Ball VP games," including SpinPoker, Multi-Strike, multi-line, etc.

I had to think about this statement just a little since, obviously,
the total number of royal hits expected would be unchanged by the format.

But, you're right (I wasn't really doubting this ;), it's more likely
that you'll hit 2 or more royals on a spinpoker play than playing 9
lines on a 50 or 100 multiline machine. Conversely, it's less likely
that you'll hit just a single royal on a play. Also, you'll see fewer
plays in which you have royal hit(s) in general.

My reaction is telling ... I'd rather have the greater number of plays
with hits yielded by multiplay than experience the thrill you speak of

Generally speaking, I consider spinpoker suboptimal to multiline since
(assuming the same paytable) spinpoker has the greater bankroll
requirement yet returns nothing more.

Of course, I have a distaste for spinpoker merely by considering it
the "Where's Waldo" of video poker -- I can never find all those
blasted hits
