A bank of eight uprights has been added, just right of the slot club.
Big signs on the wall advertising 100% payback. These machines contain
Kings or Better Full Pay Jokers, 10/7 Double Bonus, 10/6 Double Double
Bonus, Full Pay Deuces Wild and also 9/6 Jacks or Better. These games
are available in denominations of .05, .10 and .25.
South Point Upgrade

dept. with-in 2 months. Its just a question of what order of events
will happen 1st: a)the slot pts. will cut in half or quarters or b)the
paytables will be downgraded. I just pray the NSU's, JOB TP/Spins, and
the 9/6 Dlx's dont get slashed as part of the South Point's vengance
spree!

I wouldn't be so sure about the "paranoia fever."
Just got back from taking a fairly brutal beatdown on the new machines, and
I do mean new - they look literally, BRAND spanking new. Bright flat-panel
displays, adjustable volume, no dings, dents or scratches - still have that
new machine smell.
But I digress.
First of all, the machines play slooooooooooow. Think Sam's Town FPDW slow.
No matter how hard they get hammered, there's only so many hands that even
Quickdraw McGraw is going to be able to crank out. I would estimate I was
managing about 600 an hour or so, compared to maybe a thousand-plus an hour
at the Palms.
Second - due to the machines' prominent location, next to the players club
and across from the cafe, it seems to attract more "ploppies" than I've ever
seen on a full-pay bank.
About half the people I saw on the bank today were playing quarter Jacks -
one or two coins at a time! It's as if they're drawn like moths to the "100%
payback" sign even though they wouldn't know optimum play if it bit them on
the ass, and apparently have the same comprehension of the term "max coins
played." Some of them were even playing without cards, even though they had
to walk right past the players club 5 feet away to get to the machines!
Really, it looks like a brilliant move for all involved. South Point gets
another feather in their video poker cap without exposing themselves too
badly, and enough unskilled players pump short coin into the machines to
give them an acceptable hold.
Color me cautiously optimistic.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to remove Michael Gaughan's boot from my
lower GI tract.

I second the below appraisal of the situation...it was exactly as
described today.
Nuts and bolts, the machines are simply too slow to to put much coin
through. The speed change option is grayed out on all the machines.
This alone makes them a far less attractive play and far less likely
burnout candidate than if they were blazing fast (a la the old MSS
Deuces).
Also, you may want to bring a gas mask. Late this afternoon the bank
was being played predominantly by a cadre of nickel-denom players, all
of whom were smoking as if their lives depended on it.
I wouldn't be so sure about the "paranoia fever."

Went 2day to pick up my free play about 2pm and the fleas were there in
full force. None were playing nickels ( as far as i could see) and i
recognized alot of the faces from montelago, cannery, suncoast and gold
coast. i guess it pays to be a member of vpfree and have plays spoonfed
to you! just a matter of time b4 hockystl, jackessiebabe, the overzealous
asian cuople (both of them)and ipod guy r there to help put the final
nail in the coffin. Why on earth south point put these games in knowing
full hell and well there're going to lose money on them is beyond me.
95% of those who play r knowledgable fleas who only come out when coast
or any other property with acutall cash back 4 pts experiments with
putting in fpdw! Again, I dont care about them removing the fpdw. Im
well beyond supplementing my income/making 12$ an hour on fpdw. what
concerns me is the recent trend of casinos (silverton, gold coast,
montelago, sam town,GVR,Four Queens)slashing ALL of their marginal
paytables (NSU,JOB,Spin pokers,100 plays) because all u dancer class
fleas told every soul u know that those properties put in 100% vp. The
South Point along with the Palms have been a steady 50$+/hr. play 4 me
and id hate to see them vanish because of an out of control flea
population!

There's a reason his handle is hockeystl, and not hockeylas. I see his
benchmark being a tad higher than $12/hr. As is the Asian couple (two
come to mind, that's pretty funny, they're among the better bankrolled
players in town lol).
Boy, it wasn't that long ago you could play $1 FPDW with 1% card,
wasn't it?
The problem I'm seeing is in the "evolution" of VP, that everyone now
knows how to play. Multistrike is a fairly difficult game to play, yet
good luck getting on certain machines now when the progressive is up.
Well, I had three good years being almost the only guy playing it who
knew what he was doing, I guess I can't complain too much.
As much as I like to bitch out Dancer and Jean (and to a certain
extent, Anthony Curtis), if it weren't them, it would be someone
else. That's the reality. So, I go with it. That's why I hardly play
in Vegas. I really can't stand the competition, and it's a joke how
much of it there is. So, let them kill each other off. In spite of
that I find Local LV to be playable. That may tell you a little
something right there.

Anytime I'm put in the august company of an expert player like

Thanks for the love Dan, but you might want to fire the guy offering

I have a grand total of $0.00 coin-in for the year 2008 in Southern
Nevada. No need to carry any pest control products because of my
action because you won't see me grazing on the pastures of any joints

Once again, Babe is recognized for her contributions to vp and I am
left off the list. Although lately I could be described as "iPod guy,"
I'm sure it wasn't me to whom the OP was referring.
Good luck in Reno, Babe.

I don't understand. You complain about the group "feeding" plays to
anyone and everyone then you name off 4 more. I guess ill have to go
out to LLV today and see whats up out there. Did not know there was a
play. Thanks.

Hear that? Everyone better get out there and burn out these $50/hr.
plays. Remember you were spoonfed these plays right here by shortpaydan.
Was at SP this morning and the 100% bank was empty. As in, eight
machines with no players at them at all. Not what one sees at a play
in jeopardy of being burned out.
Does anyone know the average play required at the Palms for RFB for out of
towners? I just stayed there on a offer for 2 nights in the G-Suite. The
room was amazing, and available for more nights at $3k a night!! I played
about 50k a day for 3 days and was told that I was not eligible for more
comps other than the suite, and a mini suite for the 3rd night. Maybe due to
that 3k a night charge, I'm not sure.

boston's nailed that in a nutshell. It's rarely the identification of
a good paytable that kills a play (and certainly not at $.25 denom) --
it's the suggestion (whether true or not) that there's an
extraordinary kill at hand.
It's a dated reference, but I suggest SPD take a glance at a mirror
with Walt Kelly in mind.

This is kinda funny to me. Blameing people who want to get better
for the dimishing playable FPDW. Look at the corprate casinos.
All that matters to them is the bottom line hence 6-5 black jack.
It has not gone away due to the fact people play it.
FPDW makes the casinos money thats the bootm line. Not as much as
they would like but, it makes them money. I was playing the other
day watching a couple play 3 coins. I also saw a guy holding
a single ace. Not to mention the times people just screw up.
I got a buddy who ALLWAYS holds 2 pair on FPDW inspite of me
telling him NUMEROUS times to throw one pair away. I would love to
see the actuall return on these games.
Like I said if people only played full pay games that would be
all their was. Even on a FP game the casino is making money.
If the casino mayde all games minumim pay games as long as they
had max for the royal they would. Look at all the locals and
tourist that play 1cent VP. Horrid paytables and they get a TON
of play.

Me Too. In fact, I think I'll catch a plane this eve, cept I'll be
downtown & not paying any deuces.
I agree that even with good paytables, the casino will win sometimes.
For example, while playing DW the other day at my local indian
casino, the man next to me held 222A, yelling, "Oh yeah, four Aces,
you can't beat that!" This was in addition to all of the other
players who hold a single deuce with an Ace. No, it wasn't BDW.
Bravo in SD

OK, if a flea will chase a $10/hour opportunity, what do you call
someone who will chase a $50/hour opportunity? A leach? What about a
$200/hour opportunity? A whale shark?
