South Point promo

The South Point has a promotion Sundays thru Wednesdays in January. For every 2,000 video poker points earned, you get to spin the wheel on your card reader for prizes (points and/or free play). Maximum of four spins.

Mrs. Don and I each put 8,000 points on our cards. For the 8 spins, we got 2,500 points ($7.50) seven times and $10 in free play once. To say we were disappointed is an understatement.

Historically, South Point had good promotions that required far less coin-in and better awards. Hope this isn't a sign of what we can expect for 2016 from them.

I can confirm this. I ended up getting 5x2500 and $10 FP once. Saw a few others only get 2500 points as well.

Re the second question, $1 coin-in is 1 point.

Guys....that is not horrible then. 4 spins of 2500pts is worth $30 as you said. That is .375 extra.....added to the .3 it normally is. Like playing that $8K at 2.25x points.....I'd gladly take that. Now granted, might only take you two hours to play that or maybe more or less time.

for our 8 spins, Bonnie and I collected $87.50. This apparently is a bit more than average reported here, although it's early to conclude that. The "big" hits (up to $300) are undoubtedly very rare, but when they happen they will affect your average by quite a bit.

For the pessimists, there is a $5 award on the wheel, which would make this "only" a 0.25% promotion. My guess is it will average more than 0.5%. FWIW, I intend to play all 17 days of the promotion.

My mailer and the poster in the casino indicate that one will "win one of the following prizes:"; the lowest prize listed is $10 free play. On a positive note, I appreciate getting free play or points awarded instead of free breakfast buffets. Being able to spin right at the machine rather than the sometimes buggy kiosks is good.
Results my spouse and I got were a total of $90 in points and free play for our 8000 pts each.

In smaller print, it says "complete rules posted at THE CLUB booth." I agree with your point that free play and points (redeemable for cash or free play) is a more attractive option than breakfast buffets.
