For the past number of months at the South Point, I've been playing
$10,000 through and getting 4x$30 free play, $50 food credit and buffet
for 2.
The December mailer did not have the food credit or the buffet, just
the 4x$30 free play.

It's probably because I'm rather spoiled when it comes to dining....
but I found South Point's coffee shop and buffet to be mediocre or
below.
However, I found the steak house to be very good. I haven't tried
the other options as yet.

This might be due to the 50% promo going on - your points are worth twice as much if you use them for comps.
This is a good promo for the casino as they get a lot of player-accrued points off their books, lowering their liabilities on their end-of-year reports. ( Is it correct that you can use "old" points for this promo, not just the points earned during Dec. 1-24?)
I hear you can buy gift certificates from Prestige Travel during this promo (travel for 50% off using the SP points). Anyone verified this?
