South Coast downgrade...

The four 50-plays that had quarter 10/6/40 DDB were out of service when I
arrived there early this morning. When I left, at about 1:30 PM, they were back
in service. DDB is now 9/6/50.

Since they have been occupied by pros 24/7 the past few days, this was
inevitable. I knew for sure that they would be downgraded before Valentine's Day.
I'm a bit surprised that they lasted as long as they did, as they were a
"decent" play at single points, if you had the bankroll.

Actually, this wasn't the case. There was some team play on the
machines, it was pretty raw. A husband and wife came in, playing max
coin and apparently not even knowing the strategy, but no problem,
they brought in a fresh copy of the VPSM printout so they could figure
out the correct hold from K7654*. Witnessing this sort of thing, IMHO,
kills plays faster.

Frankly, considering Coast's reputation for being very poor losers and
being one of the few places that actually back off machine players, I
don't think it was a great loss. It took a good 4 weeks for the word
to get around-it finally made one of the e-mail groups (I won't
mention whose, but I don't blame the guy for putting it out)-and I'm
not quite sure what Coast was thinking when they set the machine.
While a lot of pros were playing the machine, it wasn't exactly being
overplayed-at least what I've heard of it.

*I have heard recently of a lot of cheat sheet play at South Coast.
One genius brought in one for Multistrike Jacks-one 8.5 x11 sheet for
each of the four lines! The naivete of some of you absolutely astounds me.

I cant help but think that the proliferation of Bob Dancer VP seminars along with "Frugal" media has produced an army of these advantage-player wanna-be's.

So....is that good or bad?
