Received a mailed offer from the Venetian for 2 or 3 free nights and
$50 free play. They must really be reaching down into their database
to come up with my name. I stayed there one time for 2 nights with my
wife, shortly after they had opened on a $99 room offer. I played a
total of probably 30 minutes worth of $ JOB. That's it. When I called
to book three nights on the offer, they told me that the first 2
nights that I wanted were available as a comp, but the third night
would be $199. I thanked them and said I would stand by my original
plan to stay at the Hilton. Operator said "Let me check with my
supervisor and see if I can get the third night comped". She was back
on the line in what seemed like 4-5 seconds saying that she could
comp the 3rd night also. I guess I can't blame them for trying, but
it appeared to me to be a standard routine to try to get $199 out of
you. If I didn't have other options, I probably would have gone for
it. Booked during the week between Christmas and New Years (not New
Years eve).
