Did this happen to anyone else? I hope Yahoo! deletes the group and bans the moderator for this privacy violation. I have never contacted nor subscribed to vp_heaven or vp-heaven and strongly resent this theft of my email.

didn't think it was possible to just add someone to a group until they
had had requested to subscribe via Yahoo! (Tom, can you just add
someone yourself?)
Whatever the case, have you contacted the moderator and asked for an
explanation? Who is the moderator of the group? They have to be a
total fool if they are actually adding people to the group without a
specific request.

I received an acknowledgement that "I had joined" and would be effective when I clicked on a link to confirm it. So they tried to sign me up but it doesn't work unless you confirm. Am I the only one from this group who has been attacked by this guy?

Moderators used to be able to forcibly add people until a month or so

A Yahoo moderator can add someone directly, but the addee can opt
out in the automatic welcoming message that is sent to the addee.
This had been the procedure previously, and it still is (I just checked it out
with a test account).
