Some suggestions for Pechanga

On GWAE last night Bob and I discussed my wanting to go hit a S CA casino. If you didn’t hear the show here is a link. http://www.richardmunchkin.com/2014/02/gambling-with-edge-video-poker-for.html

Anyway, I didn’t mention the casino on the air but it is Pechanga. Just wondered if anyone can help me out with

A. What game to play? NSUD, JOB or would I be better off playing like a 99% or slightly less game? (Particularly interested in mailers.)

B. What is a good amount of coin in? I don’t want to put in 40k if it will generate the same mail as 20k.

Feel free to email me if answers are too sensitive. rwmunchkin at gmail

Apologies up front, Richard – I don’t have any intel to offer on Pechanga.
Your post caught my eye because Bev and I are headed to Rincon tonight for a nice getaway. Just curious what it was about Pechanga that caught your interest.

Rincon appears to stand heads and shoulders above Pechanga when it comes to ratings on the various travel websites. And while play options are slim (DSTP bp is reasonably attractive and fun to boot), Rincon has just lifted itself up a notch in my book – a member of their team went out of his way to stress (through action) that they’re not particularly concerned whether I play or not (obviously there’s a bit of an obnoxious story there).

Suffice it to say that when you know that a property isn’t going to market to you after the fact, stressing about “how much to play” goes out the window!

Definitely if they are not going to market to me I won’t bother playing. I was initially interested because my wife wanted tickets for a concert there.

If you just want tickets, probably the best deal is to make an offer to a high roller who can get them comped. Or look on craigslist.

I guess what I am really asking is, does Pechanga send reasonable mailers?

Munch asks about: “reasonable mailers”?

I don’t think any casino sends “reasonable mailers” anymore. It’s all become very complicated, it depends on your sex, age, ethnic appearance or surname, accent, where you live, what id’s you present, how you conduct yourself in the casino, and so on. And casinos like to try to reserve the right to change the terms at any moment to their discretion, they don’t have that right, but you might need gaming’s help to explain that to them.

You are saying then that hosts have some say in your mailers. That is if you’re serious that accent can affect them. I think Kim Lee came up with the perfect name - gender non-specific, Asian, and easily reversible. Next name change that is what I will choose. Sorry Kim Lee, hope you don’t pick up my heat. LOL.

My experience marketing and hosts have very little to do with each other, except perhaps at the very very high playing limits. Especially not when you are talking about mailers. Some hosts, however, can give comps beyond the mailers.

I read a lot of the information on travel sites. Personal experiences has usually found much of the information on these sites to be either inaccurate or not too useful. This is especially true when considering whether or not to pass this information on to others.

I do have a lot of “experience” and “stays” at both Rincon and Pechanga. There is only one area that I would rate Rincon better that Pechanga and that is in the “pool facilities”. In all other areas, I would rate Pechanga better than Rincon, maybe even as much as “head and shoulders” better. For what ever
it is worth, Pechanga Hotel is rated a 4 Diamond hotel.

In video poker, superiority at Pechanga is a “no brainer” at all deniminations! Also, Pechanga is one of the 4 casinos (along with Morongo, Sycuan and Agua Caliente) that in the 2008 California-Tribal Gaming Pact were allowed
to add up to 17,000more slot machines in exchange for giving a higher percentage of gross slot revenues to the state. I do see them using this big

advantage over Rincon even more in the future. Unfortunately the gaming slowdown in 2009 had a big impact in implementing the planned growth of these four large casinos. Currently you are seeing some new changes and growth in all four of these southern California casinos.

Maybe I am missing something. How do others compare these two casinos?

My girlfriend and I go there frequently. Her mailers went up a lot after playing 5 play .25 cent ultimate x jacks or better for a few hours a week.

If your interested in going sometime with us, let me know.
