Some Questions Concerning The Current State at LVH

We too have not booked the SAKS Shopping Spree offer due to work constraints.
Due to the recent changes at LVH, I am even more concerned about the "up to
$500" offer which is "based on your continued rated play." Maybe they won't
pull any funny stuff and this will truly be their last great offer honored as
usual but, then again, who knows?

I was planning on accepting the Saks offer, but I am afraid they will
change the requirements as they did to me before, and as they did to
Ted Chee on the tournament he was going to play a week or so ago. I am
fearful that the only part of the offer that they will honor is the
part that says "management reserves all rights".

I booked the Saks offer a few hours ago. I chose to
go thru marketing rather than my host. I figured I
could call my host with questions after I booked and
compare answers.

The woman in marketing was very friendly and upbeat.
Told her I wanted to book the offer and asked her if
she could tell me what I was rated at. She said I was
rated C3, which she told me covered all my meals at
the casual restaurants, all bars, limo to/from the
airport, golf, and what she called 'housekeeping
services', which meant I could request a refrig and
some other minor things at no charge.

She gave me my old comp dollar balance and told me
that it could be used for purchases or cashback. I
asked her if that meant I could now just cash out the
balance and she said 'yes'.

Just to make sure, I asked her that this offer was an
upfront comp, along with all the C3 'goodies'. She
said it was and that being brought in at C3 entitled
me to all the C3 'goodies' upfront.

So I requested a Lanai Suite with a refrig. She said
"no problem", I'd get a Lanai Suite with a refrig.

I then asked her if there were any stipulations on the
gift card. She said I'd recieve a Saks gift card for
"up to $500". I told her at the past shopping sprees
I've always gotten $500, with no "up to". She said
the amount is based on your play, that as long as you
played at least 4 hours at your normal level, the
giftcard would be $500. Since this was outlined on
the invite, I had no problem with it.

Got her name and a confirmation number. She told me
when I was ready to book my limo or needed any show or
restaurant reservations, I could call and ask for her
or call my host and it would be taken care of.

She also mentioned I should keep an eye out for a
"chip offer" they will be sending out soon.

So it sounds like the LVH still likes me for now.
About the only other upcoming offer I could imagine
I'd be interested in would be New Year's Eve. So if
they don't like me much after this trip, at least I'll
feel like I took advantage of the best they now offer.

A couple thoughts on this ...

It's pretty certain that for the most attractive vp games in the LVH
inventory, the theoretical casino hold has been considerably reduced.
We've seen reports that the highest echelon players participating in
recent theo based promotions have suffered fairly harsh consequences.

There's little doubt in my mind that, to the extent that the theo of
any player's play is impacted by these changes, there's a very real
possibility of current shopping promotions being affected -- including
the actual card amount issued at the time of the event.

In all honesty, I don't see LVH making sweeping cuts to mid-range
players (those, such as yourself, receiving $500 or less) at this
time. This is purely speculative, but I expect that indeed so long as
you provide the 4 hours of play at previous bet levels prior to the
event, there will be no surprises. However, your trip theo this time
around will influence whether future offers are reduced.

Speculating further -- In the case of stronger offers of $1000+, I see
every chance that the actual theo of the play up to the time of pick
up will be examined and that there will be cases of significant
adjustment. If I recall offer details correctly, you must come into
the property 2 nights prior to the actual event. In past events, an
account review was performed the night before the event to determine
appropriate adjustments (in limited cases, some amounts are actually
increased -- don't look for that this time around!)

It would be nice to think that LVH will cut players a break and
maintain existing offer levels so long as prior time/bet thresholds
are met. However, LVH's track record (even pre-Resorts) demonstrates
they never give away something they don't fully believe the player
warrants.

LVH isn't not likely to cause a fuss where an adjustment of just a
couple hundred of dollars might otherwise be involved. (I've been
overly optimistic before  But at those levels where you may be
talking a potential cut of $500-$1000 I look for them to very actively
review accounts.

Take all these observations with a very large grain of salt -- there
are others here who have very recent experience on which to make
better predictions.

In fairness to LVH, past offers have been relatively generous vs.
other properties and they're well within their rights in re-examining
whether they need reward the player so strongly to draw desired
business levels. On the other hand, it's incumbent of them to take
adequate precaution to alert players of the consequences of their
business decisions up front and there's every indication that they're
intentionally doing players a disservice on this count.

The offer also states " A MINIMUM OF 4 HOURS OF RATED PLAY IS
REQUIRED AT YOUR AVERAGE HISTORY LEVEL PRIOR TO RECEIVING YOUR GIFT
CARD". So, they probably would honor it if you played Saturday at
your average level or a little more. I was going to do it but we
did it last year and since I don't do SAKS.

I was planning on accepting the Saks offer, but I am afraid they
