You always had a choice (at least I did from when I moved here in 2001). I
have never had my SS number on my Nevada driver's licence.

---I don't believe you have that choice any longer. Just renewed this past
October. They said "no" they will not put that on there any longer. Better
check your license if you haven't renewed it since 2001, too! They expire
like every 5 years.

But it's my understanding that that alternate number is based on a
code, which is known by many Nevada business people, i.e., insurance
agents, and from that number they can get your social security number.
Who knows how many other people can do the same thing. So don't be
tricked into believing that your number is secure. Katy

There are a couple of internet references suggesting that this was
true of pre-1998 NV licenses.

The license number = (SSN x 2) + 2600000001; making it possible to
back into the SSN from the DL number at that time.

That formula doesn't work for me. Katy

The day before yesterday I got 4 aces and a kicker on DDB for $2000 taxable event. I showed photo ID but no social security card. The supervisor came back shortly with a completly printed out W2-G with all my personal information including my SS#. I asked how she got my SS# and she chuckled and said, "That's nothing, I even know what you had breakfast"...It was a little chilling but I was so happy about the win, I just laughed with her.
