So you go to the Casino with a plan ?

I've always thought it would be fun if a successful VP pro went to a GA
meeting.

Hi, my name is Joe, and I play lots of video poker.

Hi, Joe. So you've lost your savings, right? You owe lots of money, maxed
out your credit cards with cash advances, lost your house, lost most of your
friends, and are living in a flophouse, or on the street, or in your car,
right? You've gone through one bankruptcy, and have no credit, right? We
understand. We've all been there!

Well, that's not quite right. I do gamble a lot, about 2000 hours each year,
playing video poker. This past year I won about $60,000. I have also earned
over $20,000 in casino comps, so I eat pretty well. And I get free rooms and
gourmet meals for my friends and family at nice casinos whenever I like. It's
really a wonderful life!

Joe, we find this impossible to believe. We think you are in denial about
your gambling problem! And if what you say is true, why are you here?

Well, I'd like to get out more. My doctor says I don't get enough exercise,
and I'm deficient in vitamin D due to not getting enough sunshine! Please help
me!

<sounds of a scuffle>

And don't come back, Joe! You make us losers look bad!

Finally, I would be wary of citing Gamblers Anonymous as a source. While
they provide an important service for many people who need it, many
successful professional gamblers who have taken a Gamblers Anonymous
test just to see how it comes out, will come back with a false positive
test result indicating they have a gambling addiction. I don't buy that
at all.
