Thanks for your evaluation. Very informative.
For an objective accessment of Sam's Town buffet, see day 4 of my
recent trip report.

It really is horrible!!!
Regarding ST, just use them for the free room mailers when you're in
a pinch. It's nice to stay at a place with pretty much no
requirements. They'll keep sending the monthlies as long as you keep
your account active.
The Hilton has gone ahead of Sam's Town on my list. I have been
staying there more frequently than at Sam's Town as of late. I have
been giving them a little more play,
around 10k per day and on my last trip they gave me the equivalent
of a Sam's Town Silver Card when I checked in. I also had a coupon
from them for $75 cash.
If I compare what a 10k per day player would receive amongst the
following 3 properties... Sam's Town; Main Street Station (also a
Boyd Property) and the Hilton.
Here is how I would rank them on the following items ....
Quality of rooms
1. Hilton
2. Sam's Town
3. MSS - distant third
Quality and variety of Video Poker (mainly for the quarter player).
1. Sam's Town
2. Hilton
3. MSS
Food comps
1. Hilton 2. MSS 3. Sam's Town
Really a virtual tie here, MSS has a slightly better buffet than
the Hilton, Sam's Town buffet Sucks.
Hilton coffee shop is very close to the California in quality,
both are a little better than Sam's Town.
Sam's Town has a great Mexican restaurant, Mss has the brewpub, and
I haven't tried the Mexican at the Hilton.
Cash Back
1. MSS (includes scratch cards)
2. Hilton
3. Sam's Town (unless you are there on one of their 6x points
weekends)
Casino Hosts
1. MSS - friendly and accessible
2. Hilton - Haven't used them, everything I have required has been
given automatically.
3. Sam's Town - completely useless - I would rather visit my
dentist.
I have tried to be as objective as possible here.

Things have definitely slid at Sam's. usually play about 6-8k a
day. Used
to get silver card (gold ocassionally). Now just a standard 3
night room
offer. Recently put about 12k through on 2 consecutive days,
with an overall
10k a day average. They wouldn't even comp the buffets that I
charged to my
room, as my theo wasn't high enough. Needless to say, although
Sams is my
favorite, I'm looking for a new home as well. Let me know what
u think of the
