Does anyone smoke? Or not smoke? Maybe talk about smoke could make
this message board active.
Smoke.
I was thinking of starting a vpFREE_Smoking group,
but Ms. vpFREE said we don't need one because
FREEvpFREE is available for any/all topics.
I quit smoking about 30 years ago, and am going to
start again when I have a week or so to live.
In the mean time, smoking in casinos is one of the
biggest vp negatives for me. I suspect that casinos
in LV will probably be non-smoking in a few years.

Hi Tom,
I don't mind posting on this board since the departure of
you know who. I hesitate to mention his name, since the last
time I did, unknowingly, on vpFREE, a firestorm of flames erupted,
causing one member to resign, not to be heard from since.
I guess extreme controversy and foul language is the engine that
used to drive FREEvpFREE. It's certainly been more civil in recent
weeks.

Please let me know how to figure this out. I wouldn't dream of
resuming smoking, since I can no longer tolerate the noxious fumes,
but, having advance notice of my impending demise, I would sure love
to take 4 times my normal bankroll, to LV, and play some $1.00 10/6
DDB!
I quit smoking about 18 years ago. I had a 3 pack a day habit, and
was never w/o a cigarette burning. I was even worse in LV, and used
to take 3 cartons of weeds with me, for 4 days!
My mother was my inspiration to quit. Watching that wonderful lady
pay the price for smoking heavily, with congestive heart failure
combined with lung cancer, somehow convinced me that smoking was not
improving my chances of leading a long, healthy life. I quit cold
turkey, after a 40 year habit. I still believe that it was the most
difficult, as well as the best thing I ever did for myself and my
family. You really have to love someone to quit smoking......even
if it's only yourself.

I believe (and hope) with you and
ROJ, as well as many others, that this will come to pass, w/i the
next few years. At that time we can invoke the same message that
many smokers have harped on for years: "Well, you really don't HAVE
TO BE IN A CASINO, DO YOU?!"
Regards,
Babe

May God and the relevant poo-bahs cause this to happen, then I hope I
will visit Las Vegas more often.

Not to worry. Even if "you know who" resumes posting,
I'm dispensing Administrator Blessings that will absolve
anyone from any guilt (or credit) by association. <G>

Please let me know how to figure this out.
A very simple calculation: one day before I'm cremated. <G>
having advance notice of my impending demise, I would sure love to take

Yep. I'm going to smoke up a storm and play a little
higher than is prudent now.

Does anyone know of reliable studies on the effects of second hand
smoke, and amount of exposure to inflict real harm? It would seem that
second hand smoke may be harmful, but, have heard that it really takes
huge exposure to have any lasting deleterious effects.

Hi Jay,
I am not a scientist, researcher or medical provider. Along with
most of the non-smoking public, I can only judge by what I've read
in newspapers or magazines or seen on television. EVERYTHING that
I've noted on this subject, leads me to believe that 2nd hand smoke
is very harmful to others, most particularly seniors and children.
I have also read quite a bit on the internet, on this subject, and so
far, everything that I've seen, heard or read, affirms my opinion as
to the danger of inhaling the fumes of cigarettes and cigars, even
on a "non-participating" basis.
I would suggest that you refer to the following websites:
American Cancer Society
Tobacco.org
Even accessing the topic "second hand smoke", will deliver many
websites of interest. Even some which attempt to refute the dangers
inherent in inhaling the smoke of others.
This is the best way that I know, to judge for yourself.
