Slot Rewards/2 Cards

My wife primarily plays Hot Shots, Wheel of Fortune, and some other
similar slot games, and I play video poker. She will play nickel (9
line)or quarter slots, and I will play up to quarters. She receives
much better offers than I do, and will occasionally be offered a free
room, while I will receive an offer for some free play.

Although some have suggested that we should both play on the same
Total Rewards card, others have mentioned that rewards are based upon
a combination of time, and the casino's return for the various games
played.

I have asked the same question in some other forums, and received
answers from people who spoke about their personal experience, but
none of the people who were trying to help seemed to be knowledgeable
about how the casino's evaluate play.

My concern is that if we both play on my wife's card, even though we
will be building time on her card, we will be diluting the value of
her average return to the casino. One of the post'ers stated that my
video poker play will be valued at 50% of the slot play. I seem to
remember a past posting in this group in which someone said that
because the casino's average return for many of the video pokers are
1% or less as compared to 10% or more for slot machines, the casino's
return is also part of the slot play weighting system.

Am I right in believing that if I put in time at video poker without
losing a lot of money (we can always hope), I may actually diminish
the comps that my wife will be offered?

Are we better off continuing to each gamble on our own cards?

Thank you.

The combined play on one card shouldn't hurt your wife's offers. In
fact, they could get better as "her" play will be worth more the casino
after you combine the play.

If you're worried that this isn't the case, next time just have her
play on your card. That way you'll get better offers and her history
won't be impacted.

If you rotate trips (all play on your card one trip all on yours the
next) you both might get good offers. Then you can take more (or
longer) trips with comped rooms.

I would keep your accounts separate. Keep in mind that you are the
scum of the earth to Harrah's---a lowlife dirtball VIDEO POKER PLAYER.
Harrah's doesn't LIKE you because you don't LOSE very much.

Your wife, on the other hand, is their ideal customer, because she
stands to lose about ten times as quickly as you. THEREFORE: as long
as Harrah's has these relative perceptions of you, she will get the
goodies, and you will not. However, is this a problem? You can share
the room and food comps and other offers that she gets. The piddle
that Harrah's gives YOU might be a duplication in some cases anyway
(like a second room offer for the same period).

So then, you say, why don't I just put my play on my wife's card?
Well, it might very well affect her overall rating. The effect of
combining your VP play with her slot play will be to "dilute" her
theoretical loss. You already know that you will receive very little
comps for your VP play, and that will still be true even if it is
combined with her slot play.

Would it make any sense for my wife and I to use my slot club card while playing VP and then to use her card when playing non VP games?

Although you could be right, my sense is that we will do better by
leaving my wife's card alone, because as tralfamidorg indicated,
Harrah's views me as "a lowlife dirtball VIDEO POKER PLAYER.
Harrah's doesn't LIKE you because you don't LOSE very much."

He also suggested that since Harrah's is not weighing my play very
heavily now, there is no reason to believe that it will add much
weight if I combine my play with my wife's play.

We are now gold tier card holders, and some have suggested that by
combining play, we might make it to platinum or diamond status. Since
we usually only go to AC once a year for four days, we do not put
enough time in on the lower priced machines, and at most occasionally
play some dollar machines. It is unlikely that we could move up very
much, but it would be nice to try.

My essential question is: Will greater play on my wife's card outweigh
the decline in her average theoretical loss resulting from my video
poker play?

I have appreciated all of your thoughtful suggestions.
