Slot cards revisited

Like everything else in casinos, collecting slot cards is a gamble.
As pointed out earlier, you may miss out on some future new customer
promotion if you sign up now, however, you also may miss out on some
good offers if you don't sign up now. For those of us not living in
Las Vegas and only going there a time or two a year, our opportunities
for taking advantage of new customer promotions are pretty limited.

My advice for 1st Timers is still to sign up for a slot card in each
and every casino they visit. I believe the odds of getting offers in
the mail for future visits outweigh the possible missed opportunity
for a new customer promotion considering how few times they will visit
LV. However, if this is a major concern then only sign up with one
name and get two cards. If a good promotion comes along later and if
you are there when it shows up, then sign up the other person as a new
customer (again getting two cards).

This is what Lucky Lucy and I do most of the time. She was able to
take advantage of a new customer offer at Bay St Louis, MS, for a $70
spa treatment and a couple free buffets. The fact that I already had
a slot card did not matter at all. I played on her card and we soon
got the minimum points required to activate the offer.

Perhaps someone can enlighten us about valuable new customer
promotions in Las Vegas. The only ones I know about is Harrah's (and
who doesn't already have a Harrah's card) and the one at Stratosphere
(still available ???). The other new customer promotions I am
familiar with involved a deck of used cards or a key chain.

Rick,

I'm not disagreeing with you on signing up, especially for people who
make limited trips and can't take advantage of different sign-up bonuses
that are sometimes time-limited. But there are a lot of good sign-up
bonuses (depending on your perspective) currently in effect in Las
Vegas. Some you need to have a coupon, some not.

BTW, I think Harrah's is just a scratch card now. Yes, Stratosphere is
still in effect. Others include:

Palms: Free $10 w/ACG coupon.
Westin: $10.
CML: 2000 points with website offer or ACG coupon.
NYNY: Baseball or painter’s cap AND free slot play money.
Hard Rock: Excellent 6 pack coupons w/coupon. (Yes, according to
management, you do need a coupon and it is for new members only.)
Barbary Coast: Funbook
Other Coasts: Always give a free gift, sometimes something fairly nice.
Bellagio: There is a promotion offering a free buffet after earning
first amount of points. I don't recall how many points are needed.
Caesars: Nice gifts for your first few levels of points earned.
Tuscany: New Funbook
Four Queens: Nice quality t-shirt after earning first 40 points.
El Cortez: Always a gift. Currently giving a “Clothes Hamper!”
Ellis Island: 5000 points and a gift.
Las Vegas Hilton: Currently giving 2 for 1 Buffet or 2 for 1 Star Trek
tickets.
Tropicana: Was giving double points first 24 hours. Now discontinued,
but you can still get shirts and show tickets within first points earned
after sign up.
Sahara: Funbook
Stardust: Just recently cancelled a 20 x points for first ½ hour promo.

There are probably others and they do continue to change.

Regards,
Scot

Has anyone got this gift for club sign-up? Scott, I'm thinking it must be one of these cloth collapsible ones.

I got the clothes hamper from a slot mailing and it is a collapsible
mesh hamper which actually came in very handy for dirty clothes in
the hotel room. Lisa

Both my wife and I have received 6 packs at the HR on our last 2
visits (in July and last week). I had some older Free 6pk coupons
that did not have exp dates or 'new members only' disclaimer on them.
I simply handed the coupons to the clerk and they took our cards and
punched a few things on their computer and handed us each 6 packs -
no grief at all.

Perhaps it depends on the employee who's working or because your

coupons didn't have expiration dates. The official word from the
management is that they are restricted to new members only. Several
others have also reported that they could not get them. Perhaps it's
your charming smile! <g>

Maybe it has something to do with locals v. nonlocals. Or, as you
state, it may simply boil down to YMMV. Bottom line is that there is
still a possibility to pick one up. The $10 matchplay, free gift with
limited play, free play from extended play and free cards/shot glass
coupons are still on the sheet.
