I just received a coupon from Skyline Casino. It pays $25 (25cent max
bet)for 4 to a Royal.
How do you compute the value of this coupon on a Jacks or Better 9/6
machine?
Thanks,
Scott

I am not precisely sure what you are asking. Clearly the value
of the coupon is $25, so I am assuming you are asking somethinga bit
different.
One possible answer is that you wish to know how much you rate
to lose during the time it takes to cash it.
Answering that question requires a precise answer to the question...
Howw often will someone playing 9/6 JOB wind up with 4 to a RF.
A minor issue here would be to consider the effects of strategy
deviations. For example, from KhTh9s6h2d, you might choose to
hold the RF2, instead of holding the K only even thought the K only
is the correct play.
First off, lets ignore strategy adjustments. Since the coupon is
presumably a one shot deal, we do not benefit from strategy shifts.
Second, since 9/6 JOB is very nearly break even, we know the
gain from any such adjustments will not be even close to worth
the bother to find out. Here a crude guess will do unless someone
is obsessed with knowing a precise number.
The RF cycle for JOB is somewhere around 40K. All such nands
were, at one time, RF4 hands with a card or 2 to draw. So we
can see that the frequency for that situation is well under
1000. We also know that with 3 to a RF, we wind up with
a brick then a RF4 as often as we wind up with RF4 then draw
a brick. So roughly, we can cut this in half again. What
all this means is that a nice guess for the frequency of such
a result is 400 hands. Playing for quarters, this is a $500
coin in. Half a percent of that is %2.50. So you should
expect to lose $2.50 duirng the hands you play before getting
the RF4.
Sure, I could be off by a factor of 20% or so, but that only
amounts to an error of 50 cents.
If you can do this daily, then the coupon is pretty nice
if going to the Skyline is convenient.
