Skip Hughes

As one of the original Skip (SHG) members I have to weigh in on this. I
used to be ShirlinOhio and posted a lot on the original VPMail. I am still
good friends with many of the original group and miss the get togethers.
I stayed with Skip and all his products until just this year. I wish Skip
well and hope he can overcome his health issues and bounce back. I still
stay in touch and see many of my SHG friends on a regular basis.

Hi,

My purpose was to post inquiring on the health of Skip Hughes. I'm so happy to see so many of the original SHG come out of the woodwork. I am going back to lurking because this is turning into something ugly and that's was not the original intention of the post. But, before I sign off I would like to say 'hello' to some of the originals members: Artmo, Ann G., Annie, Bill Burton, Bonnie, George, Big Ken, Bonita S., Bob Rocket, Cardfather, Denise, Dean Zamzow, Lolly F., Linda & Ron, Jean & Brad, Jim T., Jim Wade, Jazbo, Scott, Siona, Steve and John in LV, Tom Sims, Tomski, Toonces Cat, Yuri and of course my loving brother Jerry and his wife Brenda. I would also like to mention those that passed on way before their time: Big loveable Ron and Elliott Shapiro who gave and contributed so much to the original group. I know I left out many many names, forgive me if I left yours out. But I hope in mentioning a few we will remember the good old days when we read entertaining, funny, piss in the pants trip reports, talked about video poker and felt like a family.

Bornloser, you wonder why some of us do not post. Well, you will have your answer soon. "opinions" and personal attacks keeps many of us behind the scene.

To all my friends, good night. I wish you all a very happy, healthy and most prosperous life.

United We Stand. We will not forget.

All the best,
CLee

I think that's a shame, and I do hope that you will reconsider.
I think that we might all learn a thing or two from some former
knowledgeable members of the SHG.

Though not a member of Skip's original group, I am also an "old
VP player", having begun my fascination wirh the game in the early
1980s.

I have beeen a member of vpFREE since 2003, and have derived
great information and instruction, and made some wonderful friendships with several members of this forum.

I have always maintained that there is room for diverse opinions,
even when the discussions end in some acrimony.

I am truly sorry that am occasional troll or curmudgeon's response
would cause you not to post. IMO, you have much more of interest to
add to the board than they do.

Please post about your some of your nice memories. I too remember

All this reminiscing takes me back. Anybody still have
one of those "I need a Royal" T-shirts??

No. But I still have the Video Poker Player T that says on the back: Video Poker Players know how to hold Hands.

I only wear it when I go to LV.

Still have the shirt although it is a little frayed around the collar. Nice to see posts from a lot of old friends.

I searched in vain for my original "Skip Hughes group" pins but could not find it :frowning: . I don't think I ever had a T-shirt but I attended some of the original group meetings. That's where I met Jean Scott, Dan Paymar, Scot Krause (I remember bringing you a coupon to Texas Station many years ago) and many others. I have been mostly a lurker for many years but I still try and keep up with a lot of the posts and we still get to Las Vegas or Reno/Tahoe several times a year. I also wish Skip all the best and I hope his recovery from whatever ails him is speedy.

signed you up as my guest when they had some promotion going on and we all
got something extra out of it. Does that ring a bell?

That's right! Your memory is better than mine.
