All-
Just recently revived my membership in this forum, and I'm dismayed
(however, not too surprised) to see this flame war. In an
unmoderated forum, folks can go overboard on ANY topic.
For those interested in a synopsis of what I think about this
thread: It looks like someone grinding an axe in public.
I agree with Bill.
From a full disclosure basis, I've been a Skip subscriber for about a
year now.
Like any other good or service, I weigh the value I expect to receive
from that good or service and make my decision to either purchase/not
purchase on that basis.
Ergo, I value what Skip and the fellowship created around his site
offers. In fact, I'd pay more than the current fee, I value it so
much.
The Top 40 list has saved me time in looking for a play. There's
also a caveat acknowledging that there may be errors or if you
disagree, an email to direct your comments to.
As it relates to censorship (either real or perceived) and discourse
on his site, from what I've read PUBLICLY, I've found him to be
measured, reasoned and arguing the FACTS, although he may disagree
with them.
Perhaps in private, his comments may be more pointed and more
directed to a person, but isn't that what private conversations are
for?
Like most my opinions, I have my own leanings, but also seek to
buttress them with others' advice and experience to form what I feel
is a more balanced, informed base of knowledge. That's a big part of
my rationale subscribing to ANY VP net forum, pay or free.
Like most other topics I have an interest in, this thread would make
me ask: "What's all this fuss about? Maybe I should check it out."
Which is what I would encourage all those interested/annoyed by this
post about Skip Hughes. Check it out and FORM YOUR OWN OPINIONS!!
Over a year ago, I learned about FPVP, and one name that popped up
was Rob S. I checked out what he had to say, and through my own
experiences, plus others' opinions whom (over time) I'd come to
respect, I concluded his philosophy did measure up to my standard.
We all want to play the best VP we can, and get the most out of the
experience (whether it's comps, money, or cheap/free trips), and I
don't think ANY site addresses all those needs. They're like
buffets; you take something you like from here, something from there.
FWIW, I don't condone posting information that is clearly
copyrighted, as (in this instance), it often appears out of context
and does not convey it's original meaning. Doesn't mean I'm right,
but I feel most members of this site would feel chagrined/upset if
their work were appropriated unduly.
I'm done.
Best regards,
Jeff

Stuart,
I assume you had permission to copy and publish copyrighted
material.
