I am hesitant to start answering the false charges that have been
made against me because there could be no end to it. There have
been
a very large number of misleading statements, half-truths, and
flat-out lies perpetrated on this thread. But I have realized that
once I start answering them, I will only be opening myself up to a
further barrage of attacks from the same little group and there
will
be no end to it. I don't have the time or inclination to engage in
this.
Apparently the "false charges" referred to are in the "Top 40" thread
rather than in the "I will be a lurker" thread. The only charges made
by "ten_seven_vp" were the receiving of four flames, and Skip Hughes
has now given his side of the story.
Much of the ink in the "Top 40" thread was from pro Skip Hughes
posters, including a rebuttal by Skip Hughes that was forwarded by
Jean Scott.
Those that have participated in this mob attack have shown exactly
the kind of behavior that might have got them a warning on vp-mail.
Participants in the "Top 40" thread received public warnings, and I
did considerable behind the scenes moderating.
The "mob" consisted of the original supposedly "tongue in cheek"
poster, and three others who made a negative Skip Hughes post.
I can assure you that I would never have allowed something like
this
to occur on vp-mail and I never will.
Disruptive threads have occurred occasionally on vpFREE and on
vp-mail. It's difficult/impossible to prevent disruptive threads from
happening in semi-moderated forums such as vpFREE and vp-mail.
And, IMHO the "Top 40" thread was rather mild relative to others that
I've seen on vpFREE and on vp-mail.
The fact that it has occurred on vpFREE, where I am not able to
directly defend myself, says more about the people perpetrating it
and the person allowing it, than I ever could.
Skip Hughes has been, and is, welcome to post on vpFREE, under a
"Skip
Hughes" membership, or under his alias membership.
I assume that "the person allowing it" refers to me, which is sort of
ironic, since I constantly preach and practice civility, tolerance,
politeness etc.. on vpFREE.
I have never said anything negative on vpFREE about the Skip Hughes'
vphomepage groups. On the contrary I've made positive comments, have
carried a link to the vphomepage in "vpFREE Links", and have made it
clear to Skip Hughes that he is welcome to post occasional
promotional
messages on vpFREE.
I regret that the "Top 40" thread occurred and escalated, but despite
my wishes and efforts to the contrary, occasional disruptive threads
are unavoidable.
