Siverton letter

I received a letter yesterday 86ing me from all marketing offers and drawings based on my play history and other activity. The strange thing is I have only been in the place about a half a dozen times this year, not involved in any drawings, defiantly not ahead, anybody else get one of these lately?

More details, please, Alan. First, you mentioned this year, but how about last year? What games have you played? Did you play on non-multiplier days?

I know of two others that received the letter.

While playing next to a player, I overheard a speculation about
what had precipitated that player's "Silverton letter".

It seems that the letter recipient had played heavily on some
of the multipoint days, far past the stated limit for the point
multiplier. Immediately after playing, the player converted the
points to tangibles so that management would be unable to
take back the multiplied points that were above the limit.

G'luck all,
Gamb00ler

P.S. don't overlook the word "speculation" above. A detailed
reason was not given in the letter.

P.P.S. I LOVE spell checkers. Alan was "defiantly not ahead"
whereas I'm passively not ahead.... maybe that's why I didn't
receive a letter.... yet.

Everyone has to draw their own line in the moral sand, but this is a line I could not cross.

I don't know if this was the reason that everyone (or anyone) got the letter. However, on the subject of black/white, even if not a moral issue, it has always been true that straying too far into the dark gray area can be dangerous to your financial well-being.

I played some NSU and JOB and some progressives the last few years when they had them there and some multiplier and non multiplier days but I am light player. $1 single play the highest. I usually stop there for lunch to use up my points

My girlfriend also got one and she has only been in the place about 7 times int the past 3 years. It has been over a year since she has been there. They might have linked us together because we are at the same address.

Silverton is a marginal play. Twelve or more free play pick-ups per month are required to squeeze out a slight edge. The expectations turn negative if you are missing your free play like your post suggests. The Silverton letter is going to save you some money...

The players I know of who received the letter were targeted at other casinos recently.

So maybe the Silverton "bought a list" of "advantage" players and sent them all a letter.

Stupid, since as you have pointed out, there are no positive games there. Even on 3x points days, at a conversion rate of 1000 points to $1 gift card at Bass Pro, you would still not be as positive as M, which has the same 8-5 bonus poker games and cash back at 333 to $1.

You have to win some of the drawings and have decent cashback for Silverton to approach positive expectation.

More speculation was that the players who come in once every 3 months, and play heavily (360K coin in) for the mailer were sent that letter.

Why should it matter if you play $40K a week, or $360K in one day?
The end result is the same?

Why don't you call a host and ask for some details as to why you were 86d?

I just heard from someone who got the letter. He hadn't played at Silverton for a year and a half, but back when he did play, he played fairly heavily.

Funny thing - several of the people who got the letter, their spouse didn't even though the spouse played about the same amount and did the same amount of drawings and other promotions.

86 is not same thing as promo banned - I would use term promo banned - because 86 usually means if you show up on property they can have you arrested for trespassing.

Having been restricted from promotions/mailers from many casinos in the past, I can say from experience that hosts will usually deny any knowledge of the restrictions. They then will say they will look into it with their supervisor or marketing, but nothing productive ever comes of it to lift the restrictions.

Thats true as far as host clam up . It's usually ... "the suits above made that decision, not me." With Jobs very tough in Reno, Vegas... no host will go to bat for you ! I was market-banned from the Atlantis in Reno for no reasonable excuse. So it means no free play and no golf tournaments - I have to pay with my points for everything. I still get 3X/4X points on selected days, and was able to stay over the weekend RFB on points alone. So this sucks , yes , and my policy is - If your not one of the top 10 VP casino's in Nevada ( Atlantis, Palms, South Point, etc ) ... basically screw you Mr Casino - there's plenty of competitors open 24X7 to get my business.
BTW - I was market banned from the Peppermill at one time. Three losing trips in a row, took me off the shit list.
best wishes...Tom

Cause it's a waste of time. The casino can and will stop your welfare checks, your multiplier points and even your regular points and there is nothing you can do but get a "tap dance" from hosts or boothlings.

For me, for once, it wasn't a waste of time to try to fix a marketing problem.

I stopped getting a calendar from the Fleasta Henderson, and my card stopped registering points. The boothling said I owed them points, because my husband and I had asked them to no longer share points between our accounts. He had previously downloaded our points for freeplay that same day, because, ironically, we were trying to make it easier for them to separate our accounts. We asked to see the Rewards Center manager, who told us that we could download points twice if "we did it really fast."

Maybe all of us at VPFree could go and try that! Of course, this was ridiculous. One cannot use freeplay that isn't there. After a few calls, which were slow to be returned or not returned at all, she agreed there was a problem, and it needed to be solved by the IT department at Corporate.

After over a month, we are now getting (meager) calendars again, and my card now works. I am reviewing my first sentence. This would be a waste of time for most people to pursue this, but this joint is down the street and is an easy drive by for any kind of promotion.

My experience is that a host probably cannot help. I have tried that route before, although due to another game, not VP.

If you really think that there is a screwup, and it makes no sense to be backed off based on your play, it might make sense to try to speak to someone in Promotions that has some authority.

I like the "welfare check" analogy. My husband calls the dining coupons our "food stamps."
