Sister-in-Laws banned and not paid $2,000 jackpot

for innocently switching seats after a jackpot. They even said they switched when asked. But rather than paying the one who hit the spin button, they ban both, and refuse to pay the $2,000.

I could not believe this at all. Thanks Tom for pubishing this before I got a chance to. As far as I am concerned, goodbye Casino Pauma. Eric

In Nevada, they'd get paid (if only the one who hit the button) and
have a great lawsuit.

I'm not sure why they won't get paid the $2,000 jackpot. If Casino Pauma wants to file whatever charges, so be it but why is the payment of the jackpot held up?

What would Casino Pauma do in the case of people who partner on a play? If the sisters agree before hand to split 50/50, hit a jackpot and then ask for a split W2 ( I forget the actual name of the form) would they still withhold the jackpot since one of the people on the W2 didn't actually hit the button?

I hope Casino Pauma reviewed Detroit Greektown's revenue slide after Greektown barred players back in 2002. They had their best revenue month right before the barrings and slid horribly afterwards. It is hard to attribute a cost to the barrings but I'd say it was 7 digits and maybe 8 digits.

This is another example of a horrible decision by a casino. I'm sure they will wonder why August's handle is down considerably from July.

Player abuse happens here in Las Vegas too, but I agree that this particular indecent would have likely had a different outcome here.

It still amazes me that casinos can get away with it (usually). If Vons or Albertsons had a back room like that for interrogation of suspected shoplifters how long do you think it would last?

Or, for a better analogy, how about for people who try to go through the 15 item express line with 26 items? Ban them!

The article made it on a Pechanga Tribe blog:

Just do a search on the page for Laura Waters.
There are six comments....so far.
I would think the Tribe that owns the Casino that did the nasty is getting some feedback from their cousins - usually quite influential for all of human civilization.

Yes, this is a stereotypical incident and reinforces what many people say about Indian gaming. Bad for business. These weren't APs counting cards, or even savvy VP players, it was a couple of little old ladies who play slots and are most likely big lifetime losers to this and other casinos in the area.

*File charges?*

Only an arm of government does that.
Dumbass third-grade-dropout rent-a-cops saying yessir to the boss at a
ninth-rate sh1thole like Pauma *do not file charges*, any more than the
corner grocer.

Thanks to the stupid patchwork of current Federal law, there is no way to
sue these aholes unless they waive sovereignty.
But the FBI and the Bureau of Indian Affairs have jurisdiction and could
rain down on them plenty if they wished.
Any proof of systematically denying legitimate jackpots could have
management staring at the ass end of a Federal racketeering charge.

How do you boycott a craphouse that no one on this list would ever visit
anyway.

I had something similar happen with the casino being the ones to not follow the "rule" re giving the W2 to the person who hit the spin button.

I was playing my husband's machine while he went to the restroom. When he came back he saw I had been doing well so I continued to play for him. I then hit for about $2,000. The slot attendant came over, took my husband's player's card out of the machine then turned to him at the machine he was sitting at and said "congratulations." She then proceeded to get his information for the W2.

In our case it didn't really matter much since we file a joint tax return, but still not sure why she did that.

OK. On Jan 1,2010 I went to the restroom at Barona and my GF hit a progressive for $1,300, with my card in. They paid her, but she got the W2-G, because she hit the button.

They did that at the Rio several years ago, too. My husband and I were playing side by side and just switched machines. When I hit with his card in the machine they gave him the W2G.

At MGM Grand once I was playing on a friends card. She was seated next to me. She is a well known player there, but they said by law they had to issue the W2G to me, the player who was playing the machine.
