Single line vs. multiple line

Well, I think the answer to this is that if you play something like 10-play nickels, you would tend to get results closer to the EV (providing you're playing at that level) over a given period of time than playing single-line 50-cent of the same machine. Thus, if you were playing a multiline machine your wins and losses would be more flattened out and you'd be more likely to realize something close to the EV over your play then at a single-line machine with a same amount of money at risk. Hope that helps

Subject: [vpFREE] Single line vs. multiple line

Is there any validity to the idea that playing multiple lines is mathematically superior
to playing single lines in video poker? Despite the dangers of increased volatility,
good hands on the first line of a multiple line machine (three deuces on a DW
machine for example) can really turn a losing session around quickly. I also seem to
be ahead more often when playing multi-lines and generally walk away winning more.
Of course, this all may be just an illusion. If I stretched out my play on 3, 5, or 50 line
machines by playing on single line machines, would my results be better, worse, or
the same?
