Silverton

My wife and I didn't mean to cause any controversy on this thread about
how we were treated by the Silverton casino host. We are new to this
thread and we just wanted to share our experience. We are seniors and
we mind our own business and avoid upsets whenever possible. My
apologies to anyone offended by the previously posted trip report. I think
what set the host off was when we showed a printout we had made from
VPfree website that listed the Silverton's hosts. When the host saw the
paper he said that we should direct our questions to those on "that
internet website" rather than asking the casino host. We tried to explain
that the website actually recommends the Silverton on many fronts. The
host went on to say that customers from that website are not
advantagous to the casino. Good Luck to All.

Robert, I think we are getting somewhere, but are not there yet.
Just why were you showing that printout to your host?

Thanks

When I stop laughing about this one, I'd suggest you take it higher up
the food chain. The host is clearly out of line, although it does
validate one of my theories about VPFree.

Since some of the Silverton suits read VPFree, let me offer you my
expert opinion about your casino. It really hasn't been a profitable
place to play in the last couple of years. The amenities are nice, a
sharp player has a little bit of an edge, but not exactly where I'd
want to invest any amount of significant time there. When it was more
profitable I seemingly had better things to play when in town. I might
have misjudged it, but it always looked at best to be a B+ play.

Especially catering to Vegas locals, some people who walk through your
doors will be smarter than others, but the place looks well enough
protected to me.

So now, we have a couple of out of town seniors posting who have been
treated harshly by your hosts, for reading VPFree and playing Keno?
Shame, shame, shame. This ranks on a stupidity level with the drawing
rules and regs at the Palms, which have been geared to penny video
reels players (bravo!), and not people who really gamble. Actually,
even more so.

See, in my experience, even to play something as mindnumbingly simple
to me at 9-6 Jacks, is a challenge for most people. Ask your former
consultant Bob Dancer about this. Also, with most older folks who are
new to VP, the play quality usually diminishes sharply after the first
half hour or so. They forget hand rankings, misread the screen, press
the wrong buttons, etc. but you should know this already.

The host is right, many posters here aren't profitable customers, but
chances are none of those non-profitable folks would be naive enough
to bring a printout from the website. Finally, maybe the host would be
happier working in slot operations. Hosts get paid to bring people
through the doors, not turn them away.

There have been several suggestions, hints, and/or accusations that I
consulted with the Silverton and/or the Fiesta. That was not true when I
taught there. It is certainly not true now.

I agree that both casinos haven't been particular video poker friendly
in the recent past. That has nothing to do with me. Neither one has
games for stakes I play and neither is interested in paying me for what
I have to say. If vpFREE members wish to find out where these casinos
are getting information, they might want to look to posts on this forum.
There is clear evidence that casinos read what is posted here and react
accordingly.

Bob, let's stay on point and in context, please. Here is the entire
passage:

"See, in my experience, even to play something as mindnumbingly simple

What I was asking was what you thought how much the average student's
play would improve after a Dancer Jacks or Better class. Nothing more.
I think I know what the answer is, based on what I've heard from other
casino suits whom you've consulted within the past.

Thanks.
