Silverton Trip Report

We just returned one day early from our one week stay at the Silverton. We shortened our stay because of hurtful remarks made to us by the host. Without going into a lot of detail let it be said that we will never return to Silverton. Not only were we made to feel unwelcome by the casino host but the host informed us because we were ahead by $420 we could expect nothing in the way of discretionary comps or even a casino rate on the room (by the way, the rooms at $159 - $250 per night were pitiful). We racked up between 10K and 15K points per day. They did give us a free swipe of our player's card and the chance to win some cash. After standing in line for nearly an hour we finally were able to swipe our card and we got $2. We watched over 300 cards swipped and nobody got more than $2. I thought the local folks were going to riot they were so disappointed and insulted. Heck, $2 is $2 and we were not as disappointed as a lot of folks who lived in the area and had to
spend twice that amount in gas just to get to the casino to swipe their cards.

We have stayed at many casinos in Las Vegas (Monte Carlo, Mirage, Bellagio, Wynn, Treasure Island, etc). We have rarely had to pay anything for our room and food. When we did have to pay for some nights we always got the casino rate and not the rack rate the Silverton charged us for a room that is dark, dingy, and very old.

We have to say that the housekeeping staff, players club staff (not the host), restaurant staff, and casino floor staff were very friendly and accomodating. We also enjoyed the Mia Casa Mexican restaurant (order the quisadilla on the appitizer part of the menu-it's enough for a whole meal).

After having been insulted and embarrassed by the host (our 3rd day) we went to the Palms for our gamling and had a great time. The Silverton would not let us cancel our unused nights so we still slept there. Another thing they did was close out our bill (the day before we left) and charge it to our credit card before we had a chance to review it. That was ok with us but we thought it a little unusual.

The funny part of it was that we were only ahead because my wife had played 25 cents on a keno machine and got 7 out of 7 for $1750. Otherwise we would not have been in the black.

Thanks to those of you that warned me in advance. Next time I will listen.

Can you share the Host's name? I plan on staying there the end of the
month.

I love the Silverton. I don't play there as often as I used to because the
offers dried up and I get better offers from other casinos. Yes, their
rooms are dark, but they are definitely not dingy. Their rooms are very
nice. And, the most comfortable beds in all of Las Vegas are at Silverton!

Robert said, "Without going into a lot of detail...." and then gave us lots
of 'details.' But, what Robert did not say is what the host actually *did*
on the 3rd day that was so insulting and embarrassing.

On rare occasions, I may have been treated a little rudely by a host. But,
I've never been treated badly. And, certainly, I've never been *insulted*
or *embarrassed* by one. So, it makes me wonder what Robert did to cause
the host to act in such an insulting and embarrassing manner.

And, I seriously doubt that the Silverton refused to let them cancel their
room early. I've never heard of that before....unless, it was some kind of
package deal (which I don't think it was, since Robert was paying the rack
rate per night). I've check-ed out early many times (at various Las Vegas
hotels) and have never had to pay for a night that I did not use.

It sounds like there is more to Robert's story than he's letting on.

What exactly were those "hurtful remarks"? Your play should have
easily gotten you at least a room comp. I would have taken your case
to Vince Santiago, who is director of marketing, actually I still would.
