Silverton Slot Club

I have been a Platinum member at Silverton since June, 2006 when they initiated the new club. I felt that the 5 nights of free rooms were a bit generous and have only used them on two occasions. There was a letter sent this past week that stated they are lowering the offer to two nights per month, Sunday thru Thursday. This seems more reasonable.

I called the phone number supplied in the letter where it states "simply call VIP Services" - there was a voice mail that asked me to leave my request and someone would get back to me within 24 hours. After 48 hours I called again and left the same message. After 72 hours I stopped in to the VIP office - which was dark and locked. I went to the front desk to see if I had a reservation. No, there wasn't any. They did find a host for me to talk to over the phone and his excuses were not to be taken seriously. "She staggers her work load so she probably did not get to it yet". I asked if they even listen to the voice mail and when I would receive an answer. He suggested I call him back tomorrow morning - this will be the 4th phone call.

When I returned home this afternoon, there was a call from the Silverton VIP office. This call informed me that there were no rooms available for Platinum guests on the date I requested, however, she could offer me a rate of $45 for the same night. Ask me what I think of the new slot club and how they treat their VIP guests! There was no mention of a "limited number of rooms for Platinum members" in the letter. A letter is going out to the VP of Marketing and I will not be kind. This is called bait and switch in the real world.
Cheers!....but not for Silverton!

I am a Platinum level player. I earned over 100,000 points in five
months of play and I became platinum in May 2006 because I wanted to
take advantage of their "benefits" as stated in their
brochure "Discover the Perks".

Here is what I "Discovered" about Silverton.....

1. I am supposed to receive "free concert tickets"....I used to but I
haven't in about three months.

2. I am supposed to receive "free dining discounts"....I used to but
I haven't in about three months.

3. I was very excited to see that they had a "Gift/Travel Program-
twice a year"....I never receive any information on it and when I ask
at the club booth, they know nothing about it.

4. I found that the points that I have earned, now over 700,000
between my wife and myself, are really "worthless" unless I want to
eat it up or buy a boat......and at a really inflated rate of 1,000
points per dollar.(bass pro shops) and then they limit me to $500 per
month.

5. I am supposed to get "Holiday pick-a-gift catalogs" as stated in
the brochure.....well, its fall and no information on it as yet.
Anyone want to bet on whether it will happen?

6. This one is actually funny...I went to see a host (first time I
EVER asked a host to see what he could do for me and my wife because
now I had HOST PRIVILEGES)....he said that it's all theoretical and
that we didn't really LOSE enough and he could only give us $20 in
food comps. We had a good laugh and left. BTW...we have been playing
at Silverton/Boomtown since they opened in the 90's.

7. The players club people are EXTREMELY nice. Maybe the nicest and
kindest people to work with in any slot club. They just don't have
the tools to work with.

Now that I hear about the rooms going from six per month to two per
month.....I wonder what it next.

I would grade the marketing staff at Silverton very low. They have
good ideas but can't follow through. Give us more multiple point
days, give us a reason to earn points by giving us more options on
using them such as gift cards. Have one of the marketing people
visit Terribles casino to get more ideas on redemptions.

And....when you throw in the driving to and parking problems, I
wonder why I play there at all.

OK, so then the question is why DO you play there at all? I mean, what
are the good things they have/do that other places don't offer that has
brought you back again and again since the 90's? The accessibility is
not good for you, the comps stink, the machines were poor (up to now),
the slot club is bad. Is it just that their boothlings have nice
demeanors? Is that enough? I'm curious, because I want to know if I
should ever go there, and it sounds from this and other posts that I'd
best just stay away.

I very much appreciate the comments that several of you have shared
about Silverton's slot clubs. They will all be forwarded on --- without
your names. Changes won't happen quickly there --- but they are trying
to figure out how to become more attractive.

I met with some Silverton exectutives on Wednesday and told them that
they were overpenalizing the players on the Bob Dancer machines. They
were
  a. Giving them half-points
  b. Slowing them down
  c. Not allowing free play to be cashed on them
  d. Not making them eligible for multiple point days.

They promised to revisit the subject and retract most, if not all, of
those restrictions. (If they don't, I'll keep on them until they do.)

If they do make these machines more playable, if you're a nickel,
quarter, or dollar player who wants a good game, you might well want to
give them some play. Having another casino with 25¢ FPDW or $1 10/7 is a
good thing. You never know when these games will be eliminated from
other casinos. So giving some play to a casino that offers them is an
investment in keeping them there. The house knows these games are not
going to be major profit centers. But they are looking for
higher-than-average coin-in as an indicator that players actually care
about pay schedules.
