Silverton--Poor Attitude

Robert-- I still have one more question about your Silverton experience. Did you
talk to an actual host??? The host's offices are located across from the check-in
desk and are the small rooms. OR did you talk to someone in Invited-Guest/VIP
check-in--the bigger room across from regular check in and it has a flat screen
TV in it and usually some snacks etc. We have had bad experiences with some
of the people in VIP check-in ourselves--being rude and unhelpful, but I will still
say that the hosts have always been most helpful. But we tend not to "use" a
host as we usually book via phone on a received offer and use our comps or
other freebies for meals etc. I would suggest that if you just talked to someone
in the VIP check-in room--you probably didn't talk to a host. IMHO. . . .

In yesterday's mail we received a comp from the Silverton:

  3days/2nights Hotel Room (Good only Jan 15 -31, 2008)
  $150 in ABC credits
$25 Dining Credit (if stay is Sunday-Thursday
  VIP Lounge Check in
Ask for "January Jackpot of Fun"
I've reported the bad so I feel I need to share the good. Since we just returned from a week at the Silverton (Dec 28 - Jan 2), it is doubtful we
would be able to return so soon (offer good Jan 15-31, 2008).

Since my wife and I are still feeling the sting of the hurtful remarks made to us, I doubt we will ever return to the Silverton. We have learned a lot from this experience especially from posters on this thread. We knew playing video poker was not the most profitable venue for customers to play but we thought the casinos would still welcome our business. We also thought it was a challenge to do well playing video poker and the casinos would not get upset if you played it well. We bought Bob Dancer's software in hopes of rising to the challenge but as one poster mentioned it was difficult for me as a senior not to make too many mistakes after a while of playing (we had to laugh at the accuracy of this posters remarks). Why would they have the machines if they were going to discriminate against people for playing them? By the way, we lost money playing video poker anyway. As I mentioned earlier, the only reason we were ahead when we left was
because my wife got very
lucky and won $1750 on a 25 cent keno bet by picking 7 out of 7 on the keno machine.

My wife and I wish the Silverton and all is customers the very best for 2008. Thank you all for your positive as well as negative comments. We have learned a lot.

Jean,
No, I'm certain I talked to host as their name was listed as a host on the vpFree data base. And yes, their offices are directly across from the hotel check-in. I think you are correct that we would be better off doing everything by phone and via comps and offers directly from the hotel, however, it was our first time to stay and play for more than a short time at the Silverton so we had nothing in hand. We wanted to establish ourselves and that is why we went directly to the hosts. Turns out that was a very bad idea. My wife is still feeling embarrassed when the host laughed out loud at us for asking if we might qualify for a casino rate on the room instead of the $200+ rate we were paying. Mind you we scored more than 10K - 14K points per day and our players card and we play many kinds of slots, not just video poker. Here I am belaboring this issue when I just want to put it behind us. I guess I am also still smarting a bit. Silverton has sent us a generous comp
(although we would have to use it in the next couple of weeks which is unlikely since we just returned).

Good luck to all and I promise not to comment on this issue anymore. My personal email address is robertpickett@earthlink.net
