silverton Casino comments

Hi. The Silverton Casino group has been chosen to oversee the management of
A casino being built here in Maine.
I am familiar with many of the casinos in Las Vegas , but I have never been
inside of the Silverton.
I would like to see a few general comments about the Las Vegas Silverton.
How friendly are they, how's the Video poker, food, and other
accommodations? We only have one casino in Maine and the V.P. Is
deplorable at best. (6/5 J. or B. is the best they have). I am hoping that
the Silverton group will put in something that is at least comparable, to
The Eastside Cannery, or Arizona Charlie's on Boulder Hwy.
In order for a casino to get started in Maine, the whole doggone state
has to O.K. it in a referendum. There is a good sized minority here that is
sure that Gambling is an evil, morally corrupting influence on both
youngsters and senior citizens alike. I am hoping if we get a decent casino
the opposition will shut up once and for all. Most folks from this wooded
part of the world wouldn't be caught dead in a 'Bellagio" or a "Green Valley
and They view with a great deep dark suspicion anything south of Fenway
Park or west of Vermont. Methinks that a "Cannery East" or an "AZ. Charlies
type casino would have a good chance of eventually being accepted by some of
the " CASINO NO"! Crowd. Comments please.
                                                                     Thanks, RMcK

I'm from the Portsmouth, NH area and the Oxford Maine Casino seems to be pretty far removed from the more populated and more touristy southern and/or coastal Maine as well as even quite a distance west from I-95. So it seems to be in the wrong location to have a chance to survive economically.

I've been to the Silverton a few times, and it is a decent well maintained mid-quality casino. I've eaten at the buffet and it didn't suck. Also I've eaten at Twin Creeks restaurant and it was above average commensurate to its prices.

THe only issue is its VP recently has been significantly downgraded. In 2007 and 2008 it had 5c and 25c FPDW and 25c and 50c LDW at 100%+. That was removed by 2009 but it still had 9/6 JoB at many denominations some with progressives. Recently however, all the 9/6 JoB has been removed and the best there is is 8/5 Bonus poker at 99.17% with according to vpFREE2 .30% in Freeplay comps (still better than the 6/5 JoB up in Bangor). The casino also has some impressive fish tanks and a large Bass Pro Shop attached. I've never stayed in one of the rooms so I can't speak to that.

I like E Cannery as well especially the CARVE restaurant. But have you checked AZ Charlie's Boulder VP lately. Accordingto vp FREE2 there is nothing playable there now. So if vpFREE2 is right I think your example of good VP at AzCB is a bit out-of date.
