Silver Mining

In the past I have never reaped much reward from "silver mining",
although from time to time I have run across the stray quarter on the
floor and a few credits left on a machine. But, that all changed on
my last Vegas trip.

While playing at a bank of FPDW slant tops I noticed several people
sit down at the machine on my left and try to put bills in the bill
reader. When it didn't work they would get up and leave. Finally, a
lady seated a couple of machines to my right complained to a slot
tech who she was having adjust the speed on her machine. I heard the
tech tell her she had several calls waiting and didn't have time to
mess with it then. Out of curiousity, I kept looking over at the
machine while playing and eventually noticed that the problem was
owing to someone having played a "deal" hand and walked away without
finishing the "draw". I also noticed it was a 4 coin play that had
been made. So, to be helpful to those who might want to play the
machine in the future I simply reached over and hit the draw button.
To my surprise, and lasting amazement, up popped 4 deuces for a $200
hit! I calmly reached over and hit the cashout button (tito) while
the lady on my right was asking me how I got it to work. I don't
know if anyone there noticed what had happened but I felt better with
the ticket in my pocket. Then, knowing this had to be an "omen" <big

, I cashed out and moved over to continue playing that machine.

So, the moral to the story (if there is one) is one never knows when
the "mother lode" will be hit.
