Comp $ limit is $600 except for Baron level which is $900.
In the past, it's been mentioned that buying wine or liquor is a good option
for use of comp $. Yesterday reached the $900 limit & stopped gambling.
Under old system for Baron card holders you couldn't use kiosks & self-comp. Had
to go through host. Still operating on that impression, I went to bed & got
up at 10 to ask about how to get comps down. Long story short, learned that
everyone can use kiosks to self comp thus taking down your comp balance. Only
problem is that comps are specific to a store so you better know what you want
& what's in the store. On a prior trip, _vegasstl@charter.net_
(mailto:vegas…@…net) (Mike from St Louis) told me that Tommy Bahama items aren't
ever discounted much & that was confirmed by another party (I don't shop so I
wouldn't know). Anyway, there's a bunch of new shops that were put in around
the new year & they're behind RumBullions. I only went in to one,
Tradewinds, which has Tommy Bahama, LaCoste, Burberry & other high end brands. Bought 3
shirts for $280 using my comps. Saved around $15 in sales tax by using
comps. Can't remember what the other shops were but perhaps someone who is a
shopper can make a report about what they perceive as a good value. My idea of
shopping is to go into SIPS & buy all the tea & coffee packages for gifts which
used to work in getting my comps down but they recently shifted half of their
good tea inventory to Sterlings (the steak house) & they don't carry coffee
anymore.
BTW, when I told my host that I stopped gambling & checked out as another
way of taking down my comps, he commented that they need to revisit the limits
which is what I want them to do. So when you reach the limit make it a point
to tell someone.
Just to be careful, I checked with Eldorado about their limits. They have no
limits but comps earned have a 14-month shelf life so anything earned must be
used before their 14-month anniversary. They told me that if I was in that
situation, I should get a letter but it's best to always check.
