SILVER LEGACY RENO UPDATE

Not listed in data base:

(9) .25, .50, $1 DDB, MG/MD, triple play and five play, Tito uprights;
located in a circle around a post SE of center bar (Silver Baron).

These are short pay, 8/5/50, except at 20 coins is 10/6/50 (yes, SF isn't
shorted like upstairs DDB multi plays).

Okay - I give up - could not find these downstairs. Just found the
8/5 ones...are you sure you saw them downstairs?

They are 8/5 except at 20 coins. They surround a post, and are
intermixed with fifty or hundred play machines, can't remember exactly.
Alternative directions: due west, maybe 40 feet, from the high limit
area (the hundred play 9.6.90), with just some table games inbetween.
2d alternative directions: walk out (going east) of the east exit of
the center bar, turn right at the bottom of the stairs, and you bump
into them.

Just got back from Silver. I went to every machine (3-, 5- and 10-play) around that
column and cranked the bet up and the DDB remained 8/5. I tried to be 100%
thorough. Could be they've fixed the error, could be winterhead clicked some other
game -OR- could it be:

there was ONE suspicious machine mixed in around that column. Called Double Pay,
it cost 30 coins to play triple play and you got a roughly twice the normal paytable on
the dealt hands (and they dealt three separate hands.) Then you hold cards on the
bottom line hand, the upper two dealt hands disappear and are replaced with the
cards you held and hit Draw like the normal multi-play. I hit a drawn quad 3 for 400
creds, so I liked it. The graphics were unusual and crude (cartoonish rather than the
stylish fonts most games have). On the dealt hand payoffs, a pair of 5s-thru-10s
paid 1-1. I played 25c denom for ten minutes and quit up $50.

Maybe this is the game W-head saw.

The proof is in the play, which I didn't do. I made sure the DDB game
was on the screen, selected the "see pays", then cranked up the bets to
look at 5, 10 (15?)and 20 coins. I checked three machines this way, and
compared them to a pocket card I keep that shows the schedules on the
games I play. Is it possible that the "see pays" schedule is different
from the actual playing-pay schedule? I doubt it; this baffles me.
Maybe there was some winter in my head.

Monday, 6/5, I took my weekly bus trip to Reno. Upon
arrival I went upstairs at Silver Legacy to the alcove
to play the quarter FP Duces game. A woman came to
play one of the other duces games at the dollar level
next to me, put in $100, pushed the MAX BET button and
was dealt 4 duces! No ace came up in the draw for a
$10,000 payoff! Yes, the max button was pushed
without reading the notice on the machine that the max
bet could be 50 coins. She assumed max was 5 coins as
is in her home state of Colorado. This was her first
day of a five day trip. What a hoot to be there to
see. James Giroud

Wow, James! I LOVE your story! We should all get that lucky when we
make a mistake!

I have personally wiffed away $100, in the blink of an eye, by
carelessly hitting the "Max Play" button on that type of machine.
I've made this costly error at both the PEPP and the Silver Legacy,
where these 50 coin max. machines abound.

I now make it a point to "set" the deal button to 5 coins before I
play the first hand. I then very carefully keep my right hand near
the "deal" button in preparation for playing the next hand. It does
slow me down just bit, but it saves lots of bankroll. Very few folks
are as fortunate as the player from Colorado!

I hope that she managed to preserve most of her great win, and take it
home with her.

Cheers,
-Babe-
