I dropped Ann a private e-mail with what I know about Chris's family
emergency which I prefer not to post. It's enough to know she's OK
herself and is taking care of an ill family member. I'm glad to hear
they are covering for her at work, the way it should be.

On a different note, anybody get a bonus cash offer from Silver yet?

No bonus offer. The last one they sent with a 2-week usage period was a
test. Maybe they're evaluating the stiffs. The $500 offers had no play
requirement while the lower ones did.

Anyway, SL has made some changes. Comp limit has been raised to $900 for
Barons level. It's $600 for all others. Barons can use comps at a variety of
venues & Barons level means 2 nights in a suite every month with no charge to
comps (advantage SL when compared to Eldorado next door). Now Barons members
can self-comp at kiosks like everyone else. I had mentioned to them how the
Barons level was not perceived as an advantage due to restrictions of card usage
& they have fixed most of the problems. Only one remains, you don't get your
starting points to show while playing but you do see your daily accumulation
& total current points so it's easy to figure out where you started. Use of
kiosk allowed me to verify that Barons comps will go over $600. BTW had a very
memorable moment while sitting next to a list member playing the nickel
100-plays. Earlier we had discovered that we had corresponded as list members.
He had accumulated 28 RFs after being down to $25 so he had made an astonishing
comeback. Then he grabbed my arm because he had just picked up another 100
RFs!! I was very happy for him & to have been there to see it. Must say that
during the several hrs that I played next to him I did not have any RFs. So
it must be right. Things do balance out. Next time I see him, I will wish him
well but find a seat elsewhere.

Eldorado -- someone reported earlier that comps were limited to $600 so I
asked if it was & they said no. Not able to verify as I was not aware that
comps were deducted when using casino offers. I've had 3 trips there & wondered
why my comp level was so low until it was explained to me that is the system.

Hi Glenn,

Can you please explain the above statement to me?

I am Sterling, not Baron, but I was totally unaware that there was
a "comp limit" for any tier. Is there, in fact, a limit to the
number of comps that one can accumulate and "save" in an account?

I guess that I am more accustomed to LV casinos where it is possible
to keep an unlimited number of comp dollars in your account as long
there is some actitivity on your account periodically. In fact, I
have a good friend who is a very high roller (by my standards) and
has many hundreds of thousands of comp dollars at a major LV casino.

Why would the SL want to limit the number of comps that a good player
might accumulate? What am I missing?

Best regards,

Yes. At the Silver Legacy, your comp account maxes out at $600, unless you are Baron status, in which case it maxes out at $900. If you are staying at the SL and charging things to your room, but fear you may go over $600 in comps with play before you check out, you can go to VIP and have them charge off things immediately so you have some more breathing room.

Why would the SL want to limit the number of comps that a good player

Comp balances on the books are a liability that the casino has to carry. It's better for the casino if you use your comps than if they carry them indefinitely. Many casinos have some method of expiring the comps if they aren't used so that the casino doesn't carry them indefinitely. Some casinos, like the Wynn, won't carry a comp balance at all for you past your stay if you are not local. Others put an upper bound on what you can accrue. Some casinos implement various buy-back deals where you can cash out comps (usually at a heavily discounted rate, but on some rare occasions you can even get a premium) for cash or gift cards to encourage you to take your comps.

SL is also probably not used to action from very high rollers that would generate thousands of dollars of comps with each stay. For whatever reason, they set up the parameters of their promotions to cater to who they think their customers are or should be.

Hi Part Timer,

Thanks once again for a helpful and informative answer. After your
explanation I was able to see the logic to their comp restrictions.

I use my comp dollars as needed, so that my stay is "cost-free" less
any VP losses that I might sustain. I have never used all the comp
dollars available to me during any SL visit. I usually have a
balance left, for the next trip, of at least $100+. That way, I can
self comp the first meals, upon arriving.

Of course, when I'm in a gambling venue, with good VP available many
long hours each day, I don't spend that much time on gourmet dining.

Thanks again for your informed answer.
