Silver Legacy comments

We were at Silver Legacy last weekend, enjoying some VP and the lovely Sunday brunch at Sterling's. I noticed that in the southwest corner, there were a lot of new Game Kings still under wraps. It will be interesting to see if these end up with good games.

This week, we also received a mailing notice of the new club cards, which allegedly can be used to get your own comps at the restaurants. The cutoff point for qualifying for all the extra goodies is 500 pts ($10,000) per day. Because we are below that point, and likely to stay there as long as $1200 triggers a W-2G, we are merely "Legacy Level" cardholders.

We haven't received the $125 bounceback cash offer since the September-October cycle.

Gambling notes:

* I got 4 Aces three times -- once while playing Deuces, and twice while playing Joker Wild.

* On the other hand, when I switched from Deuces to Triple Bonus to play a few hands (yes, I know it's a lousy game!), I held 2 2's and filled in a 2, 4, and 2. It was very much a "James Stockdale" moment for me: "Who am I? Why am I here? What did I win? What game am I playing, anyway?" I just had to laugh at the absurdity of winning $500 out of sheer cluelessness.

* On the bank of machines in the upstairs alcove, a lot of the games have a 50-coin maximum. Is this new? I was terrified that I would press the max-bet button by mistake.

* I also got 5 of a kind at Joker -- as usual, with queens. I think the Joker in that machine looks something like Bill Clinton, so I'm always amused when he turns up with the 4 ladies.
