We are staying at Harrah's on a Total Rewards offer of $20 a night with a $20 food comp. We plan on doing all our playing at Silver Legacy where we hit big last trip. We will be playing some FPDW which of course we expect no comps on. But we plan on cycling a combined $10,000 a day, subject to a $ 800-$1000 loss limit, through the 97% slots there. Any tips, hints or advice on maximizing cash backs or comps would be welcome. >>
There are abundant signs pointing to blatant ethnicity, age, and gender discrimination by the Silver Legacy in generating offers. If you're a mature Chinese woman, you may do very well. White guys, fuggedaboutit. You're likely to get nothing, or very close to it. Friends in the know have described the place as "garbage." However, this is somewhat in contrast to Kevin Lewis' information on the 6/27/13 Gambling with an Edge, calling the Silver Legacy the best in Reno for 25 ct. players for bounceback and comps, though not great.
However, I should qualify all of this by saying that my experience has been with video poker. If you're playing reels, I don't know, they might treat you better. As to the VP, it's possible that playing on very high denomination machines is better (probably not your thing), and it's possible that losing is better (again, probably not your thing). The fact that you "hit big last trip" could be a problem.
As to straight point accrual, the Silver Legacy changed early 2013 to awarding comps at the rate of 0.33% of coin in, no more free play. However, comps from machine play ONLY are convertible to free play at the kiosk at any time 2:1, max $1,000 comps per day; or with a local address, up to $250 per day at 1:1 every Friday; others can convert at 1:1 on occasional special days. It works out about like the old system. They may have recently tweaked things again, I need to check the next time I'm there.
You can earn a high tier card from one day's play, if you've had no play in a year. However, the Silver Legacy is now very quick to yank it if you don't continue to maintain a high average, every day you play or use a comp. One thing to watch out for is that if you simply put your card in a machine, without playing even one spin, just because you want to check your balances or something, it still trips you.
