Significant Cut in MGM Comps

I agree that I have little if any leverage with MGM.

The point is for the Casino to set expectations and if comps are reduced by 45% from one visit to another for MGM to provide an explanation, rather then just say that I have been sufficiently comped. I don't consider comps an entitlement and appreciate the comps I get, however if the casino is consistent situations like this can be avoided.

I was treated like my request for an explanation and surprise that comps were reduced was out of line.

Two questions:
1) Is a comp rate of .22 of coin in extremely high and was I possibly significantly overcomped in Dec?
2) What strip casnios will offer RFB for 50K per day?

BTW, my host at TI said he would bring us back in RFB anytime. Your correct that I play primarily VP. However, I was doing so poorly at VP that I played more slots then I would like to admit.

I know it is hard to stop going to a casino where you have been comped significantly and then have a reduction, but:

1. I don't think the above paragraph in your response is going to help you much. What you are talking about here are discretionary comps and the casino can either give them or not give them. At MGM Mirage properties, all comps are discretionary since the only thing you are "entitled" to are offers in writing and cashback for your points. Saying you are going to post on gaming websites may also not be helpful.

2. It has become known that if most of your play is video poker which you probably played since you are on this group, that MGM Mirage has cut significantly during the past two years comps for customers who play video poker.

3. The casino business is good these days. Just take a look at the earnings reports for all the publicly held companies. They really do not care about retaining a customer -- at least at the moment -- maybe that will change.

I think the challenge here is to find out what rate they are willing to comp at so you can adjust your spending accordingly since comps are not banked for visitors at MGM Mirage properties.

You think? All I can add is that I wouldn't recommend approaching
Dancer to strong arm them in your favor ...

Yeah, right ... (and I'm earnest ... any business should strive for
consistency when dealing with their customers, and asuage their
frustration when things abruptly change.)

But you're working under an assumption that Kellogg School marketing
honchos (I'm talking Chicago, not Battle Creek  are at the helm --
rather than the bunch of "seat of my pants" management yahoos that
typically rise to the top.

Of course, judging from some promotions, I think there are a few
"prize in the box" verterans that staff the promotion functions.

Any player who has made the rounds will tell you there's a natural ebb
and flow when it comes to where the sane plays lie. When an
opportunity goes into the tank, don't waste much time looking for a
way to salvage the situation. It's an exercise akin to the proverbial
"never try to teach a pig to sing ..."

The thing to do is to keep your ear to the ground, via groups such as
this and honing a decent network of similarly goaled players, and stay
abreast of where your play is best directed.
