Was wondering what the low-down was on this bonus.
Will be in Reno this weekend and was going to take advantage of it.
How does it work?
Any thoughts as to best strategy or machines to play with this bonus?

I'm not sure of the details... but the super-generous bonus of months
past is gone. They no longer will rebate your loss or double your win.
The bonus now is that you get a certain amount of free play based on
how much coin-in you have in the first 24 hours.
The old bonus had great "hit and run" value. You could play wildly for
one hour, since you'd get a rebate if you ended down $200 (and they'd
match your win up to $200 also). The new bonus is nothing like that;
it's not worth much during a quick visit, but would accummulate if you
play for hours. Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly how much it
worked out to... maybe a few tenths of a percent.

I get 25.00 in free play every week, I don't know how I qualified for it
but it definatly go there everytime I come to Reno. The machines are old
and all the buttons don't allways work but they have good pay talbles.

I was in Reno June 2-3 and this was the deal that was in place:
"As a new member of the Best Bet Club you'll receive $5 in Free Play
for every 100 points you earn, up to $200 on your first day of play!"
My husband got on a 100-play machine and I got on a 50-play machine.
We opted for 9-6 JOB at the 5-cent level. We managed 3400 points
($170 in free play) in 2.25 hours. I was a little annoyed that we
didn't max out the promotion, but we were short on time and we were
able to lock up a tidy profit at that point. There are better games
in the casino, but like I said, we were a little short on time. Also,
we had been playing a lot of JOB at the Silver Legacy and we find it
sort of hard to switch gears.
It's unclear how much coin in it takes to get a point. Sorry, I
didn't take better notes about that.
The woman at the slot club acted like it was very unusual to have
earned so much free play on the promotion, especially in such a short
time.
Good luck to you!
Congrats on beating them, I dont think that was an easy thing to do!
Assuming ( and this is a key assumption ) you guys had your machines set to turbo, and you were able to pound out 500 plays per hour:
a. You put through about $40,000 coin in, expected loss with perfect play $200
b. Free play earned was $170 --> I'm going to say that's worth equivalent $160 in cash ( This is subjective, but I'd take the cash any day then forced to play there again )
c. Normal Cal cashback on $40,000 ( assuming they let you double dip ) is $50
I'm going to conclude by the above that its a positive play for 9/6 jacks and worth about $10/$40,000 coin in. (+160+50-200=10) ( excluding food and room ( yuk ) comps for the Cal )
I love the Cal, and they do have quite a few positive games ( Note: they use to have $5 10/7 db which may be the way to go on this promo , then again with some bad luck you could have easily lost $2000 in a short period of time since this is the more volatile of the 2 games. )
regards...Tom

Nice analysis, Tom!
I think we played a bit slower than that. We have a tendency to turn
off the turbo whenever a mildly interesting draw comes up, like
drawing to trips or three to a royal. Then we sit and cheer each
other on whenever a draw comes through. It makes for more fun. So I
think we do more like 400/hands an hour on those machines, which puts
us closer to $34,000 coin in, which is a convenient match with the
3400 points we earned.
I didn't even explore the double-dip cashback option. Hmm. Are these
points going to expire? Without the double-dip, it was a slightly
less than break-even play. Glad I got out of there with some profit.
So today I got my first mailer from Club Cal-Neva. Actually, I got
two. The first mailer invited me to stay for two free nights and
attend "Bagels and Bingo", "Sixties Mania", and "Slots-A-Cash".
Whoopee. The second was better in that it says I can get $100 in free
play every week Monday-Sunday from Sept-Oct 2007. Now we're talking.
