Siena Reno positive play

I was checking out promotions in the Reno area, and came up with this
gem. The Siena is offering a bonus on all 4 of a kinds (non wilds).
This will vary according to the denomination played, but as an example,
it is $10 on a $1 game. They are now offering double on Sundays, so the
bonus paid on 4 of a kind is now $20. According to the data base, they
offer $1 9/6 JOB in single line and also 10 play. According to my
calculations, this bonus will make the play come in at 100.49%. In
addition to this play, the cash back is .07% and comps at .67%.

They are also offering additional promotions that are hard to
calculate. Every Saturday they have drawings that give away $50,000 in
cash. The tickets are earned based on play. They also are giving away
daily cash for the persons that put through the most coin in a 24 hour
period. The top player gets $200, and they pay cash down to 10th place.

If anyone is interested in the details, here is a link to the
promotions: http://www.sienareno.com/casino/promotions.html

By the way, Siena is not a smokey slot house. This is a very nice
casino and hotel sitting on the banks of the Truckee River. Anyway, the
point of this post is to ask the value of such a play. Is this enough
of a positive play to get ones attention?. At what point do you decide
this is a great play, and I am going to do it?

Depending on the denomination of the machines offering the bonus, this
is a strong play. Posting it here should bring in enough players that it
will be gone by Sunday noon.

Does Siena have anything close to positive over $1? The database doesn't list anything.

Perhaps I have underestimated the power of this forum? Perhaps I have
underestimated the value of this play? My point of the original post
was not to kill this play, as this play was published last month, but
to try to get some feed back on when a play is a "get there quick"
play. I realize that it is probably too late, but would this play be
enough to get someone from Las Vegas to make a trip to Reno?

No worries. I doubt you single handedly killed the play. One way to gauge
the value of a particular play is to figure out the expected return per
hour. If you figure your total ER is 100.5% and you play a brisk 1200 hands
per hour on a $1 machine you are producing $6K in action every hour. Your
expected return on that 6K is $30. Is that enough to get you there quick?
Maybe if you're close enough. The more action you are able to put through
per hour the more valuable the play becomes.

You misread the database. They have $1 9/6 JoB in 5 coin and 10 coin max versions, NOT 10 play.

I went in there a couple of years ago, noted the poor VP inventory
coupled with some good but not good enough promos (and also noted some
second dealing at blackjack, but that's for another forum) and haven't
been back since.

I have em'd the poster in the same regard as Dancer did publicly,
along with some other "friendly" advice, but I really think there's no
such animal as a $1 10-play Jacks at Siena, and if they did it would
surely be excluded. I remember the 3/5-play being 8-5. Surely it's
been checked out by locals already.

The multiline play at the Siena is pretty terrible. I've tried to run
them to make them positive, but even with all the promotions, they are
negative. The database, to my knowledge, accurately lists the best
plays that exist there. The ten coin single line machines basically
reduce the value of the quads promos because you have to have max coin
in to get the quads bonus. But if you play JoB anyway, the gravy
certainly helps. And the spa there is definitely worth visiting if you
accumulate an excess of comps. I highly recommend the hot stone massage.

doesn't list anything.

Not that I know of. The trick to running the action is in the multi-
plays on high variance negative games like super aces or double
double. You have to tie all the promotions together to win. In
addition, their best promotions are invitation only, or by running
action last month you qualify for a pronotion this month. It was a
big fat play in December, not that great now. The Siena trick is to
get VP players to compete against each other coughing up good money
to those who run the most action. The sharpest, biggest bankrolled
players get the money. The rest get crushed. They have also been
known, in the past, to immediately cancel promotions and pull cards
on players. This happened to two friends of mine a while back.
They overkilled. They homesteaded the hotel and overworked room
service and the restaurants. I can't be more specific about Siena
because my best friend has been working it and would not be very
happy about me spilling the beans on his play.

One of the Siena promotions was killed late Thursday night or early
Friday morning. The double royal promotion is gone.

I figured this might be a good time to give a full review of the
Siena, as I've stayed there quite a bit over the last year or so. I
like staying there because they have the best bedding by far of all
the Reno hotels. The suites are very nicely decorated and the bath
products are from Bath and Body Works. The soaking tubs in the suites
are quite relaxing as well. Room service, so far, has been excellent.
They are prompt; they get the order right every time; and, the food
is pretty good as far as room service goes.

On the otherhand, there does seem to be some issues with the
infrastructure. They provide free internet, but good luck getting it
to work. It is very spotty and hit and miss, both the wireless and
the ethernet. They make up for this somewhat by providing free
internet access to hotel guests in their business center. We have
also had issues with the heater not working. One time we were moved
from a room with a heater that didn't work to another one where the
shower would not provide hot water (the sink, tub, etc did -- but not
the walk-in shower). The cordless phones may or may not have a love
battery in them. So on some levels, they are a very nice play to
stay, but they don't quite go that extra step and invest in their
infrastructure.

The casino is small, which I like. But contrary to Hamstocken's
opinion, I have found it to be quite smoky at times. Because the
place is small, if you have a smoker near you, especially a cigar
smoker (and by near I mean a couple of banks away), the smoke and odor
can be overwhelming. The ventilation system is not the best. The
staff is very friendly and I think they have some of the friendliest
slot attendants around. The 9/6 jacks are on slant tops, which is a
huge plus for me.

Food-wise, there are not a lot of choices, but I like what they have.
The coffee shop in quite inexpensive and the food is decent as far as
coffee shop fare goes. Lexie's is top notch. There new menu has a
nice variety and the quality is very nice. They have an extensive
wine list with some nice wines. They also have a wine bar with live
jazz music most nights.

The biggest negative to me with the Siena though, is the feeling of
safety. The dregs of society wnader through fairly often. They are
accross the street from a run down motel which seems to attract
junkies and alcoholics. My friend was hit up for money when he was
cashing out on a machine when the slot attendant was right there. I
do feel uncomfortable going there by myself if I am not actually
staying there. And I am always very watchful going into the elevator.

Overall, I do like the Siena. I wish they had better games, but I
also know a few pros playing a positive game there could break them,
as they are a very small casino - so I don't blame them for not
offering more. I think if they worked on the infrastructure and if
they extended more efforts to keeping the junkies off the property, it
would be hard to beat them in Reno if you want a nice, friendly,
relaxing place to stay. Because they are smaller and don't have a
huge number of high rollers there, a quarter player can get treated
fairly well there in terms of comps and the like.
