Siena comps

Anyone have a feel for what it takes to get marketing department room
and/or meal comps at the Siena? I'm not at a level where a host would
take interest in my play. I am getting offers for Pepp, Atlantis, and
Harrahs, but the wife is a bit of a high-fallutin' snob who won't come
with me if I stay in those hotels.

Thanks
Ben

I have been playing one day/month putting 1000 points on the card ($14K coin in) and I receive a coupon for two free nights twice a month, their bonus cashback promotion, and also in a separate mailing two 5X points days/month with BB between $50-$100. Other special event offers as well. (Twice a month=two designated periods, i. e. first half/second half)

You accumulate comps at a pretty good rate for food. The coffee shop is way cheap, but Lexie's is more expensive and much improved with a new chef. At Lexie's your bill for two could be as much as $130 or so, more if you have a bottle of wine.

Hope this helps.

Excellent info, Thanks! Sounds like they have an active marketing
department. Do your offers include Spa deals? Need to keep the wife
amused while I gamble...

I don't remember an offer including the spa, and I haven't tried it. It's a big part of their advertising, so it ought to be very nice.

The wife was generally pleased with her Spa experience there, though
commented that despite idle employees there were lots of dirty towels
not being picked up off the floor... I realize I'm not making my
wife sound very good in these mesages, but actually she's quite a
gem. Anyway, thanks again. I'll be up there next week, and I'll
give them a good solid day of play and see what develops.

I'm just really getting started at the Siena but here are my
experiences.
I only get to Reno two or three times a year so I do nothing on volume,
especially since I'm a fairly low-mid roller.
In December, '04, and in February, '05, my first visits to the Siena
were one afternoon each trip. I ran up a bit over 100 points on the 10-
7DB quarter machines each time. While there, I played a little BJ, $10
base bet the first time and $25 the second. Less than an hour each
time.
After the first visit, they sent what I assume is their lowest level
offer, 2 for 1 room, Sun-Thur, and a coupon for cashback for machine
play. It was $10 to $100 each two week period as mentioned above.
Then I received varying offers every two months throughout 2005. The
offer sheets covered two months each. The closest to a constant offer
was the $10-$100 cashback for machine play. BTW, this cash is
obtainable on the same trip; it's not bounceback.
For the slow months of Nov-Dec, I got a two night free room offer for
each month, Sun-Thur, the cashback, and a $50 credit to Lexie's for Nov
only. I went down the week before Christmas, ran up over 800 points on
the 10-7DB and the NSUD. I put in probably 8-10 hours of $50 base bet
BJ and a couple of hours of craps. If the craps did anything for me,
they must count free odds since, with their 10X odds, my line and come
bets were never over $10 and were usually 3 or 5.
A week or so ago I got my first offer of the year. I got two any
nights comped and the rest was the usual.
I hope all this helps you.
My impression about the spa is that you will have to use comp credits.
I have seen nothing in the way of an offer for that. It may take a
higher level of play.
Regarding Lexie's, I discovered by accident, after skipping lunch, that
they have an early bird special from 5 PM when they open, to 5:45. It
is $14.95 and offered five choices of a three course meal. I think it
was a good meal but then I am too old to really pig out any more.
Other than the special, I thought the regular prices were a touch high,
which I consider a common "comp house" tactic.
One last comment. I mentioned that I was sorry the $50 Lexie's
certificate was November only since I was there in December. They
laughed and took it. Nice!

Frank,

That was VERY helpful. It sounds like at my play level I should be
able to generate Su-th room comps and some discounted meals, but
I'll have to expect to pony up for the spousal Spa treats. I'll be
staying at the Atlantis next Thurs and Fri nights, and will devote
one day to Siena play. When I start getting offers, I'll post here
what they were and my coin-through.

Thanks again,
Ben

Ben, here's one more thought. If you are over 50, your River Club card
will be designated. Show it at the Contrada for 20% off. That takes
some stress off the comp account.
For some reason, they don't seem to promote food discounts much. I
learned about the 20% by reading a note upside down. It was taped to
the counter at the cash register to remind the staff. But if you are
just paying, either cash, plastic, or with a comp, they do not ask to
see your card. I never noticed any signs regarding the 20% anywhere
else nor did I see anything about the early bird specials at Lexie's
until I sat down at the table and they handed me a special menu.
Talk about stealth specials!

Seems like the marketing department and restaurant management are not
on the same page. Thanks for the heads up.
